@Kachina624 - How incredible! Don't you wish you knew the history? Someone wore this as a pendant and probably treasured it. I wonder how long ago it was made into a piece of jewelry.

I don't think so.  Soft tissue wouldn't be fossilized like that.

I'm with @Sooner . The stone is fossilized pseudomorph but the lizard was carved. Take it from an old fossil-hunter, bone and shell is fossilized, not soft tissue.

Head to gemrockauctions.com and search for "turquoise lizard." You'll find lots of stones like this, ranging in price from $28 to $288. I found one exactly like this for $25 plus $3.95 shipping. They may not even be real turquoise, but rather molded fake turquoise.
