Better not to post to FB or anywhere else for now. I heard something about lawsuits, etc. First give the owner/manager a chance to fix/remedy everything.

I intend to give them every opportunity to remedy the situation. I will not jump the gun until they tell me they are finished. However, I will not sign anything saying it was fixed until a couple of months go by and I know it's really fixed.

Believe me, I know they eventually hold the strings to our future here and I don't intend to rock the boat unnecessarily. I think the fact that they know I would bring a third party in to test the place is probably enough incentive for them to do a good job. So far, the last thing I have said to them is that I'm sure we can resolve this amicably.

Yes, it could be that it's fiberglass. I'm sure that they will get to the bottom of it. Where the water is leaking behind it, etc. In order to permanently solve the problem. Better to solve the problem now, rather than wait until it become worse.

Just a thought.......perhaps there is a vacant apt. on your floor that you and your DD could use, for taking showers? While your bathroom/tub is being repaired. Just thinking......Smile

I think the entire fiberglass shower needs to be pulled out and replaced with a new one. They are under $300.00 at the Home Depot.

My daughter is going to use the shower standing on a short stool. I will take basin baths, which is easier for me. I cannot stand up to take a shower, I have to sit. Hopefully the plumber will be able to drain the water, fix where it is broken, and the problem will stop. BTW, they haven't even looked at my bathroom yet.

All that depends upon whether that is the cause of the mold, of course. After it's "fixed" I will probably bring the environmental company in to do the testing which takes a week and will cost $350. It will be worth it for the peace of mind.

My daughter sees her Lyme specialist tomorrow. I'm sure she will discuss this with him also.

Ford, there are special seats made for people who cannot stand for a shower. My mother had to use one when she became very ill.

I don't think they're difficult to find.

These buildings are not set up like that. Our apartment and the apartment on the other end of the building are single floor apartments with private street level entrances, connected to the middle part of the building by one single firewall. There are no inside entrances to any of the other apartments. This is really like a single home with three exposures, no one above us. That's one of the things we love about it.

The middle of the building houses four apartments, two with separate ground floor entrances, and two up an outside staircase, also with separate entrances. Quite different from most apartment housing.

Yes, my shower chair is almost exactly like the first one. It has back support, which I need.
