I'm okay with saying I wear a lot of fake gems. But I once went into a jewelry outlet store, and was wearing a blue topaz necklace....a real gemstone. The saleswoman first complimented me on my necklace, then asked, "Is it synthetic?" I Couldn't believe that someone working in an outlet store would ask that! I often go into higher end jewelry stores, and the salespeople are very professional and respectful.
