baby grace is back but seems different to me

anyone else gotten any new baby grace? i just got a shipment of the 32 ounce shower gel and lotion duo (good news, it's back in that configuration!) and it seems different to me. i compared the ingredients for the gel with those from a gel i still have from my last old auto-delivery plan that had baby grace and the ingredients are slightly different. but what's really different to me is the lotion. a few months ago i finished my last bg lotion from before it was discontinued so i have a pretty recent memory of the texture and scent. this new lotion has a different texture and the scent, while similar, has almost a plasticky smelling scent to it when i first apply it. it mostly disappears with the dry down, so that's good, but it's not my good old favorite baby grace lotion.

is it just me? anyone else notice a difference? maybe i just got a weird batch or it was affected by the heat. it's not necessarily bad, but it's not the same.

Since the company was sold things are not the same. I find that they have been watered down and just not good.

I have an old bottle and a new bottle, and, believe me, I can smell anything. What I first noticed is that the colors of Baby Grace are not the same. The old bottle is a lighter color and the new one has a tinge of blue. I also notice that the older bottle has a somewhat stronger aroma than the new one--but not by much. I am still pleased with the new one but wish they had not changed the formula at all, which was probably just to save a little money.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

okay, i'm glad it's not just me. thank you for your input! i still have plenty of spray fragrance, edp and spritz left in the older formulas but the lotion was my favorite iteration so it's disappointing that it's not quite the same. to my nose, in addition to the initial plasticky (i can't think of how else to describe it) scent, the dry down is a teensy bit muskier than i remember, which actually almost reads a little powdery. the clean, green, one-note floral that used to be so clear is less evident in the lotion now. i agree with you, i wish it hadn't been changed at all.

I am crushed because Baby Grace WAS my all time favorite scent and it is NOT the same now. I have worn nothing else for years and was devastated when my auto-delivery was cancelled a few months ago. I was so happy when they brought it back and ordered the new set. I still had my last bottle of my original Philosophy Baby Grace when I received the new one and they in no way are the same perfume. It no longer has that calming smell I could always count on. I used to love wearing my turtle necks because I could always pull it up over my nose to get a good smell of my Baby Grace when I was having a bad day. It is now very weak and no longer has that smell I loved. I always loved Philosophy because you could always count on the quality of their products and could tell that they cared about their "Philosophy Girls". Their products were second to none and their perfumes were far superior to any other perfumes on the market. Now it seems like Coty is trying to cut costs and offering a sub-par products. I really hope they go back to Philosophy's original formulas. I just wonder if the original formulas weren't part of the buy out and that is why the products are no longer the same quality.

Are you able to find the older version on ebay? From what you all are describing, they sound quite different. I'm sorry to hear they changed the formula.

Philosophy Baby Grace originally offered a non alcohol spray fragrance. Everyone complained about the non staying power, so they offered a version with alcohol. The non alcohol was discontinued. This was back in the Cristina days. They are now selling BG EDP which is not going to smell the same as the original. Cristina said on air that different versions of the same scent are going to smell different. She referenced Inner Grace, and said the 3 in 1 smelled better than the EDP Inner Grace. It is what it is.

I wanted to add that I realize @Jenny kid you are comparing the lotion and 3 in 1. I purchased quite a lot of the different core scents through the years. I find the scents are stronger now than in the Cristina days. When FIL was first introduced it was very weak. In my opinion it is better now. Baby Grace was best in the non alcohol original formulation.

I loved Baby Grace. I didn't care for Amazing but I loved Baby. I got a particular compliment when I wore it one time but I doubt will ever get another if I keep the set I just received, although it IS going back. I got the parfum and shower gel set, and what I sparyed on myself didn't last two seconds. Why would they do this, change it? I know how the Amazing Grace crowd feels now with the comments that Amazing Grace had been changed. No change to what people loved would be for the better. "Come on," Coty.
