I never eat before I work out. I usually do my workout in the morning. I'm not hungry when I wake up, and working out also delays my hunger, so it work well for my intermittent fasting schedule. I have breakfast around 2 then dinner between 6-7.
After a lot of experimentation, I've discovered this is what works best for my body.

I go after work around 5:30 for the evening spin or kick box or buti yoga classes on a stomach that ate lunch as the last meal. I try and grab a snack before because I’m always hungry and I have to have a little something for energy. Cannot work out on full stomach. Classes too intense and food bounces arround😮

@phoenixbrd Thanks! And I wish you a very Happy New Year too! I'm in now for NYE and Day; just went out to get a few missing ingredients to make a minestrone soup for tomorrow.

I do work out on an empty stomach, at least my strength workouts, which I always do in the morning. If I'm going to a dance class I will eat a few hours prior to class, and if I'm just going my daily walk it doesn't really matter, although I tend to feel lighter if I haven't just eaten. And I do like to feel lighter when I'm trying to move at a quick pace.
Everyone's tolerance for "fasted" workouts is different. What I have noticed that really doesn't work well for anyone is eating too close to a strength workout. You can't give it your all if your body is busy digesting. You are much better off waiting until that process is complete.

Empty stomach for me.

No, I need to eat something before working out. Otherwise, I lose energy. Although, when I do work out on an empty stomach or sleep on an empty stomach, my belly does get flatter.

@SilleeMee Do you mean weight training? And is eating a meal 2-3hrs prior to this what you do??
If I am just doing some elliptical and some stretching....I prefer to do this in the morning and all I ever have in the morning is cup of coffee and water.

I do both weights, and walking outside, in the late morning now since it too cold to start earlier. I usually eat breakfast within a couple of hours after I get up at 5am. In the summer I get up even earlier so I can beat the heat of the day when I go out for walks, usually just before the sun comes up.

I work out in the early morning and prefer an empty stomach. My high energy time is morning, so it works for me. Also, I walk for miles where there are no bathrooms.
