what to expect when HRT is discontinued?

my GYN recently suggested that I consider discontinuing my HRT. I've been on estrogen patches/prometrium for about 6 years now. I've never had any adverse effects from HRT. in fact, it's all been good: I've felt better, slept better, had more energy, skin looks good ( no wrinkles at 60 yrs old).

but she says that at my age (arrrg...) one should consider the risk versus benefit factors and not continue HRT indefinitely. I understand her point but I balked at the idea at first. but then after some thought I'm considering her suggestion.

my question is: what should I expect if I do stop HRT? am I going to dry up and become a wrinkled, shriveled prune? am I going to experience the insomnia and fatigue I had before I started?

has anyone here ever dealt with this issue?
