I'm keeping all fingers crossed for the positive for you. Keep saying to yourself, "nothing's going to be wrong". Mean it and say it. I hope for this to be true in your case, worrying is hard, I have to try to stop it too. I felt better in my worries to say that to myself, please try it, worry is no fun nor is bad news, I know. So I'm hoping for the best for you.

I am the same way every year I have the screening mammogram and don't have breast cancer specifically in my family history. I am a worrier and I figure some of these screening mammos show irregularities. So I feel you. Our own minds & what if's can really drive us nuts. I find the waiting between having the mammo & getting the results seems like forever. You are not alone & I wish you all the best.

The waiting has to be difficult! However, worry won't change a thing ... it actually took years for me to realize how much all the worrying was adversely affecting my overall health and even my relationships. I realized that I often worried about things that were out of my control, i.e. test results, parent's health, etc.. I am making a conscious effort to not worry so much. Life is too short for that! Try to relax or do something fun to take your mind off of the situation. I sincerely hope you get good news soon!

Dear Lyn-
First of all, what the tech told you as to how you'll receive the results is very common now.
Let me tell you my story: I did not have a mammogram since 2009. Although my husband & I were caring for a dear college friend of mine who had Esophageal Cancer, I would think about scheduling the test but I never did.
I finally got up the courage to do so in June 2014 when my Primary Care Physician told me that if I don't make an appointment for myself, he'll make one for me.
I was a wreck that day. My heart was beating a mile a minute. They finally called me into the room. To make it even worse for me, my breasts are not what you'd call "small" by any means.
When the testing was finished, I asked my technician what the results were but she told me that they no longer are able to tell the patients. I honestly felt as though I was going to have a heart attack and I told her that. She calmed me down a bit and told me to take it easy until I receive the actual results.
I was a bit better but still nervous when we got home. I tried and tried to put it out of my head but it wasn't working for me. The phone rang in the mid-afternoon and it was the technician. She told me that she told the doctor how I thought the results would be bad. The Radiologist pulled my X-rays, reviewed them and then told her that my breasts were perfectly fine.
I'm telling you this so maybe you can calm yourself down. If there is anything suspicious, they will call you and begin to make arrangements for you to see a specialist.
Hope this helps you.
Oh & by the way, I think the staff there thought I was a nut case but that's what happens when fear gets in the way.
Take care of yourself.

Wow - that was super kind of that facility to be so sensitive to your feelings. Great customer service that you do not hear about much in the medical field.

I don't know where you go for your mammo but I had mine along with an ultrasound (its a law in New York state that women have both mammo's & ultrasound at the same time) and I received the results for each one within a few minutes.

Wouldn't they have called you by now if they found something very worrisome? That you haven't heard anything is good news, I would think. I'm just like you about those things and worrying, but just hang on. Most likely, good news is on the way.
