I have chronic insomnia--have for the last 4 years, especially, due to some major life changes but have never been a great sleeper in my life. Am doing some CBT , a type of therapy, and the other suggested things too. I tried to track my sleep with my apple watch--but it is not easy to get set up--for me anyway---and I hate wearing anything on my wrist in bed. So I found and bought a ring that will track most everything the watch can, only from your finger. Didn't buy the ones that were hundreds of $$----but found a very reasonable priced one from AMZ. Got one night tracked but forgot to set it up for last night---The first nights results were very interesting--said I got 6 1/2 hrs of sleep--normal----WHAT??? I wish I got that many hours EVERY night---good grief----guess I just need to keep going on this---is very comfortable to wear tho. ![]()

I have a Fitbit. I don't know how accurate it is for sleep. Yesterday it said I got a bit over five hours but I felt great. This morning it says I got almost eight but I sure don't feel like it.

Have you tried magnesium pill before bed? 250mg is what I take which falls in recommended dose.

@rockygems123 --oh yes, I do take mag. And I turn off all my electronic devices a couple hours before I turn off the lights, sleep in a cool room, have a sound machine on, eat early so not to digest at night. No alcohol or caffiene, no white sugar or white carbs, walk a few miles during the day, breathe deep and stand on my head and do the hula --that one was a joke
Doing it all--some improvement but not much. ![]()

@DrakesMomma --I had a fitbit once and that was easier to wear and according to the sleep dr I went to, those watches are pretty accurate. Of course, insomnia is not something that a sleep study can help--just drugs or behaviour modification----doing both now---

@wagirl& @rockygems123 The trick w/ mag for sleep is to use topical mag chloride. Nakery has a topical that really works well!

Might ask about a meditation practice. I stumbled into mine in my 30s during yoga. I had to work on it, it was hard for me to silence my mind.
The night during shavasana when my back finally released is still a distinct memory. Took a while more to release my neck.

one word: Xanax. Prescribed for my insomnia and anxiety at night. Works every time.
