@PA Mom-mom wrote:@chickenbutt I guess this is a crazy club! I'm glad someone else hears distant voices. My DH thinks I'm nuts! Well, I might be, but not because of that, I also like the YouTube videos that have rain and snow storms on an eight hour loop. That seems to help.
Yeah, it's definitely a weird thing to tell somebody that you 'hear voices'. I hate that one more than some of the other sounds I hear.
I'm already kinda crazy (PTSD & depression), so you can imagine when I told my husband about the voices. hehe - I had to explain the difference between somebody hearing voices in their head, telling them to kill people or something, and hearing the distant voices that cannot be discerned. I didn't always have that one but have had it for quite a while now. Mostly it's the loud crickets and intermittent shrill ringing and the sound like the heater is running.
Often it is so loud I can barely stand it. I sure wish you well and sorry that you have to be in the club, too!

As a card carrying member of this club for years now I can totally relate! I tell my DH (who also has tinnitus) that I think it's the real reason Vincent Van Gogh cut off his ear!!

I did hear today, low magnesium levels may cause this. Ask your Dr to test your vit levels

I've had this for close to 20 years and have seen a specialist. As you mentioned, there is no cure. Every once in awhile it will stop but that doesn't last long.

@1Snickers My DH is nearly deaf in one ear and wears a hearing aid also.He has the ringing and high pitched whining.
How miserable to also hear popping like a BB gun too ...I can’t imagine how awful. Good thing that your fur babies can alert you to some things. Take care.

I have had tinnitus for many years. Mine sounds like rushing air. Sometime soft and other times louder and stronger. Like an air symphony. Right now it is very soft. Unless I deliberately tune into it, I can ignore it. For this, I am grateful.
I've asked family members to "listen to the air" but they don't hear anything. I can hear it so clearly.

I've had it in various degrees of sounds for 13 plus yrs now..
Mine came about with degenerative disc in neck diagnosis with severe muscle spasms.
Mine started out sounding like an old car radio that used to have the knob buttons to change it..sounded like it was turned wide open and someone was turning the stations back and forth nonstop.
It never eased off until I was medicated and muscles were seriously relaxed...Now it varies, sometimes none, sometimes sounds of crickets, some high pitched fuse sounds..all varies around my degen neck and spine issues.
Sorry to all it effects..its a serious bummer, feel like you are going insane when it won't stop !!!

My husband has had this for many years. He has a noise blocker on his hearing aid. He tells me it trains the brain to listen to this sound instead of the other sounds in his head. He now wears two hearing aids with noise blocking devices on them.

I must tell you, I love you all! I would not wish any of you experienced this but just reading and a little laughter helpd me so. We aren't depresse just dealing with what is. I am currently in Vanderbuilt hearing clinic but they agree with all we have said. They are inivative and have a positive attitude, like you. If I find any help I'll share. It has been a 2 yr. road with 3 ENT, of no help, MRI, etc. This Dr. of audiology is a dear friend of my daughter's. She is out of our ins. but no charge. I give thanks for this but you all are so calming to my heart because I don't need to try and explain you know. Can't explain how you have helped. THANK EACH OF YOU1
