statin drugs and the sun

My DH has a terrible rash all over his face and the derm told him it is from statin drugs and the sun. It is especially on the left side and she suggested he get the side car windows tinted. She also ordered him a Rx sunscreen.

@151949Yikes!   I've been on statins for quite a few years now without that reaction.  Hope my body doesn't decide to change.  I know that can happen -  I wouldn't have thought to blame a rash on my sttins, but I'll try to remember your post.

I've never heard any warning about statin drugs causing sensitivity to the sun.  I've taken one for a number of years and never had a problem.
