I hope to never get it but I admit I'm also afraid to get the shot!

I heard nightmares about how sick people got after the shingles vaccine. I finally got them this year. I didn't have any reaction at all. Whew!

As stated in previous replies there are some natural treatments--one of them is Olive Leaf Extract. It comes in pill and a tincture form. I know of someone who got shingles last year and took a bit of the tincture form and it helped in the recovery.

Take care of yourself.

@webbgarner1  I am sorry that you are dealing with Shingles. I got Shingles when I was 61. My Shingles were on my face. I used lidocaine and anti itch cream, plus Dr. Nassif's hydroscreen facial oil on the. These products made the Shingles survivable. The doctor also gave me an antiviral medication. 6 months post shingles, I got the first shingles vaccine. I would not be afraid. I got the 2nd vaccine 6 months after that. Both vaccines made me tired for a couple of days. That was it. I would much rather have the vaccine than the Shingles. I hope that you feel better.

@webbgarner1

Sorry to hear that!

Hopefully you're able to rest and take it easy while you recover.

I am 61 and had been putting off getting a shingles vaccine and did not get it. stupid me. Now I have shingles. Been pretty miserable for several days. Just keep hoping it will go away without the lasting nerve pain.

@webbgarner1.  Have you contacted your doctor?  I believe there's medication to alleviate symptoms but it must be taken early on.  I think it may shorten the duration of the symptoms.

@on the bay.  I got the shots two years ago and didn't have a single side effect.  I even had a flu shot the same day as the first one.

From what I've heard, any effects of the vaccine are nothing compared to the disease.

Please don't put it off!

@on the bay It's a series of 2 shots, a couple of months apart. Would you rather have a sore arm or shingles?

The only reaction I had to #2 was a pretty sore arm for 3 days and felt kind of tired.

Think about sore arms vs. the misery and pain of shingles.

I got the shingles vaccines last spring with nothing more than a sore arm for each one. I got mine about 3 months apart.

Hopefully,  no shingles for me.
