Hello my friend @LilacTree,
Since I have been lacto-ovo since the mid 1970's, and I have never had any internal digestive issues, I have will continue to consume my milk and cheese, which I love. Dairy and meat/fish and foul are not the only forms of foods that have bad things done to them during their growth and distribution phases.
I have never even considered, or missed my long gone foods of my past choices. However, I also realize that I am on the short end side of my life expectancy. With that I will continue to eat the foods I love until such time as they create no problems for me. If and when they do? You know me well enough to know what I will do should that occur.
Glad you got info that may help you with at least one of your many health issues. I will pass on this one and just rely on things I know work for my body.
By the by, I am still feeling "great", and now skating well 2-3 times a week. Working out at a high level the last 8-10 months and loving every minute of it. Pain free? I wish, but that comes with that territory, even when I was young. Had a young boy want a picture with me yesterday after ice skating. He was about 6 years old and his father told me he sees me as "a professional" and "his hero"! How bout that? LOL!!! =^..^=
My best to you and your daughter and family.

LOL, I love your attitude, John. Actually I feel the same way. I am free to make my choices now because I am on the "short end" myself! I don't believe that individuals can be cured of diabetes and osteoarthritis after two weeks of a plant based diet (which the film claims). But I also don't think I need meat and dairy products in my life that just make me miserable . . . and I want to find out if that is true.
If going vegan doesn't work, I will drop it. But I feel that if I'm going to constantly complain about my health, then I have a duty to try everything I can to improve it, for myself and my family. So far nothing has worked, so what do I have to lose?
I also know you long enough now to know you will do whatever you please!! I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. I am simply putting information out there that may be helpful to some, while totally accepting that they won't feel that way, and that is their prerogative.
Have another "GREAT" day, my friend. ~Ford

I never had a problem giving up flesh, yolks, etc. and never had a craving for a substitute.
But want to point out that plant based doesn't mean you go scott free without tummy issues.
I know someone who is vegan and has chronic gastritis. Can't eat tomatos, garlic, onion, hot or spicy foods---raw or cooked. They can't take over the counter pain relief either, ibuprofen and tylenol.
That would do me in, because all my favorite main dishes start with garlic and onion and I love hot and spicy.

I agree with your sentiments.
I embarked on plant based, vegan eating and ended up with a large kidney stone. I have been told to stop eating dark leafy greens, spinach, tea, all potatoes, beans and various other high oxylate foods. Gastroparesis...it is a dangerous diet to go on with this condition.
My physician said it is the perfect diet for anyone with a history of disordered eating patterns. Eliminating food groups can cause vitamin deficiencies and feed into anorexia. Not to say it causes anorexia but it isn't healthy for everyone with underlying medical conditions. That cannot be emphasized enough.
There is no one size fits all way of eating. First and foremost, dietary needs are individualized. Internet gurus with books and nutrition advice to the masses? Best to check with your health practitioners to eat a diet that agrees with your own personal medical profile.

You can eat "vegan" and still have a lousy diet.
Does eating animals products make your friend better?
I HAD gut issues before going on the Whole Food, Plant Based diet. I don't have the gut issues anymore.

What vitamin deficiencies do I have by eating Whole Foods, Plant Based and eliminating animal products and processed oils?
I'd put my nutrition up against anyone's.
And I don't know where the anorexia fear comes from with regard to eliminating animal products and processed oils.
PLUS, I do not get my information from "internet gurus". I get it from doctors and nutritionists who are well-versed in nutritional science.
The only info I get from "internet gurus" are personal expeirences and stories and maybe some recipes.

To have a “physician” delve into uncharted territory like
psychiatry or emotional issues is so highly wrong.
And to ‘spook’ a patient with this incorrect info is
almost criminal. But I guess some doctors will do/say
anything to appease their patients for profit.
To suggest a plant based diet is “the perfect diet for anyone
with a history of disordered eating patterns” has never researched
this topic. Show me one person eating a PB diet who is also aneroxic
and I’ll show you millions of obese & morbidly obese people worldwide
eating a SAD diet. Both have emotional issues but one can be several
pounds underweight & people freak out; the other can be 100’s, if not
1,000 pounds over normal weight and...it’s almost socially normal.
I agree with Kitty...vitamin deficiencies are almost unheard of
when eating a WFPB low in fat (10-15%). As for an one-size diet,
yeah...it’s plant based. Civilizations have been eating plant based diets
for millennium. They all can’t be wrong. Learn from the best.
To circle back, “What The Health” is so important for our society
to see. It’s comical how 90 minutes can create feathers to be ruffled,
but at least we’re talking about it. I see the world turning to this lifestyle.
We’ve made such huge strides in the last 10-20 yrs...I’m excited to
see what the next 10-20 yrs hold. As long as big pharma & industries
are continued to be exposed for their wrong-doing, it will begin
to make sense for more & more people.
Go plants for optimal health!
