I watched this on Netflix last night.  I re-watched parts of it, even though it was difficult to do so.

 

If anyone here cares about the food we eat in the U.S. today, this is at least worth watching.

 

Since I am almost there anyway, and two of my daughters are vegans, I am going to give up the last two vestiges (eggs and cheese) of a meatless, dairy-free, plant-based diet, starting immediately.  Since I have so many digestive issues, this is worth trying (for me).

 

I think you will be surprised as to how the government and the food industries continue to cover this up.

I have not watched that. I probably won't watch it since I would not be able to eat after if I did. I have already stopped eating a lot of different stuff.

Definitely life changing plant based lifestyle. Shared with the forum my experience. Besides weight loss all inflammation throughout my body completely healed. In the process of awareness stopped all processed foods including hidden sugar salt gluton and gmo's. Becoming Vegan wasn't differcult for me. Thanks for sharing.🙋

I hope your new diet works well for you. I have several vegans in the family & find it easy to accommodate their choice at family get togethers, they made a decision for different reasons & I respect that. For me, I chose to eat what I like, exercise daily & take care of myself. I don't pay attention to shows or studies, most are biased one way or another & change back & forth, it's good then it's bad then good again so I'll decide for myself. Live life in moderation & enjoy it with the choices you make for yourself...sadly, the sweet ride ends. Be well @LilacTree.

I adopted a primarily Whole Foods Plant Based Diet almost 3 months ago to the day (I say PRIMARILY because I have slipped up a few times since, BUT my goal is 100% compliance.

 

I have had digestive issues since I was a small child, which would appear to disappear at times and then get worse for no apparent reason.  This went on for years.  In the past 2 years I had more and more severe flare-ups with less "good" time in between.  After adopting the Whole Foods Plant Based way of eating (which I did for both health and ethical reasons) my body went through a period of adjustment and I wasn't sure if I could stick with it.  I did some research on what was going on and heard a doctor speak about the change in enzymes that your body uses to digest different types of foods and that you probably will go through a period of change.  It's normal.  Took about a month and then my gut just settled in and I've had no issues since.  The very last animal based product I got rid of was cream - just a small amount in my coffee, but it was critical to ditch it.  And eggs.  

 

So, I just wanted to tell you that it might not be smooth sailing from the get-go, but stick with it.  There are so many resources to help within the Plant Based community.

  Enjoy reading your experience. Researched side effects eliminating and removing all animal products and toxins along with items previously mentioned. 

 

Omg!! Experienced majority, Finally two months later my system began working smoothly. Attribute Flax seed and Chia seeds ground, Huge fan of both. Gut health vitally important, Inflammation centers there. Keep digestive system moving makes the difference.

When I first began WFPB eating I was reminded of the old jokes about Beans, but they didn't make me laugh!  I learned that the adjustment was easier if I eased into the legumes rather than embracing them all at once!  That did help, I think, and now I can eat black beans, hummus, and lentils all in one day without "paying" for it!  hahahaha

 

I also eat ground flaxseed every day (a recommendation of Dr. Michael Greger, as well as others), but have not incorporated chia seeds.  I plan to get some on my next grocery shop, though.  The flaxseed goes in my breakfast oatMEAL of steel cuts oats, a banana, blueberries, a few walnuts, and a half cup of unsweetened almond milk.  If it's an early workout day I put the ground flax in my fruit/veggie smoothie because I can't work out on a belly full of oatmeal!  hahaha.  I often have the oatMEAL afterwards, though.

 

Just had lunch which was brown jasmine rice, black beans, sweet corn, and a few tablespoons of a pumpkin based salsa I picked up at Trader Joes - Pumpkin, tomatoes, onions, apples, butternut squash - delish!
