I finally watched What the Health in it's entirety.
Besides hearing the doctors discussing the negative impact of meat and dairy on our health, my favorite parts were the success stories of those people who overcame some really serious health problems by going whole foods, plant based.
I will soon be 4 months in and can't even imagine going back to my 'healthy' diet that included meat, dairy, and eggs.
P.S. Over the weekend I had brunch with some friends who informed me afterwards that they are both going Whole Foods Plant Based! They both have issues with heart disease and hypertension.
I am so excited for them!

Wow! You are an amazing influence!
Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn would be a good reference for your friends
with heart issues. If interested, I have a couple videos....
one is Dr. Esselstyn’s lecture & another is CNN documentary
called ‘Heart Attack Proof’.
I’ve been sitting here today reading/listening to the lectures
about diabetes since today is World Diabetes Day.
Just staggering how many in the world have this condition.
It’s even more depressing to see the forecasted #s
when we know so much of this could be prevented/reversed
with just diet alone.
Kitty Life is pretty good, yes?!

Oh, yes, thank you for mentioning Dr. Esselstyn and I would love to know which lecture. I am guessing that it can be found on youtube? I think I've seen the CNN documentary 'Heat Attack Proof' - is that the one narrated by Sanjay Gupta?
Life IS good - I am struggling with my new personal training venture, but I have a lot of energy and I am starting to build my client base. I love when they ask me about what I eat - I have to watch that I don't go on and on about it but I try to steer them in the 'direction of the plants'. Even a few people who were concerned that, well, you know, that I'm not getting enough protein
are starting to think maybe I'm onto something here. hahahahahahaha!
Also? Remember that I mentioned how my bp was normal now? after I'd been seeing it on the rise? I am so happy about that, AND, my skin is really looking good. I thought it was pretty good before, but now it's just better. I have no negatives to report. ![]()
I will pass Dr. Esselstyn's name along to my friends. I am sure they will read up and research, because they are like that. ![]()

Give them the Forks Over Knives recommendation. Must see.
Can’t come to the Plant Meetings until they watch.
Ha.
Yes, you’ve seen the Sanjay Gupta piece. Good stuff.
Here’s the Esselstyn Youtube video.
It has 46,045 views....I think I’m the 46,000.
I love to get on the elliptical, pop it on & let it soak in.
Such a calming voice...
This is the time of year where it’s all weight loss & saving money.
Two perfect tie-ins to the PB lifestyle for your client base.
You should think about making this a part-time career....
a Plant Based food coach. Set up their kitchen, menus, journals.
There’s a Plant Based nutrition course many,
who are in the Health/wellness field, talk about:
http://nutritionstudies.org/courses/plant-based-nutrition/
Sounds like 2018 will really be your year. Woot.

Thanks! I think Dr. Esselstyn seems like such a lovely and kind man. I will watch the video and pass it on to my friends.
I LOVE your idea about adding the Plant Based coaching to my career. I was just thinking about how I might do that this past week. I will look into the course! AWESOME! Thank you!

Hey @QueenDanceALot,
Sounds like you are extremely happy with your newer way of eating, and only 4 months into it. Always like reading stories about changes, that work out for the better, in anyone's life.
Really like to see some, unlike yourself, that go from a sedentary lifestyle to giving their body the movement it just may be craving. Many times, from experiences I have been involved with personally with others, the Psychological phase is where it began. Get that part of the body convinced, and then move on to the physical, and dietary parts the help complete that change, and for the better.
After I went lacto, back in the mid 1970's, I gave vegan a good trial, and for me the trade-offs, were not worth not to my liking. Giving up the very few things I love in my eating program just made no sense for me as it made no difference in how I felt either physically or psychologicaly. My body needs the full psychological component to complete my total body experiences of feeling great.
As I have said here for months now, I am feeling GREAT, and while what I am doing nutritionally, I would not recommend to anyone. What I do know is that it is working well for my old body, and consists of the lacto way of eating, just a little "out there" for me to even suggest it to others.
All my blood work, which I have done at the very least 4 times per year, show nothing that concerns me in the least. My main blood issue is my Iron Ferritin, and I still need an Iron Infusion at times. I think this was caused by my Anemia, which was caused by both Coumadin/Warfarin and Plavix, and surfaced in my right colon bleeding. Throw in the 120+ blood transfusions and 30+ Iron infusions, so here I am.
For others I might on occasion suggest to them a lower fat way of eating. For those looking to lose weight, I never suggest giving up any food groups they have things they absolutely love. Most that try that, from my experiences, have been unsuccessful at reaching the weight goals. I am speaking of those without any health issues, such as diabetes or CAD, and so on.
Gonna start getting ready to go ice skating within the hour and want to glance at another thread or 2 before I take off. Always like reading your posts as they are very informative and well written.
Best to you,

Thanks for your post! I really admire your spirit and determination to keep doing what you love to do. Like you, physical activity is so much a part of my life and the idea of having to stop doing what I do is just not a thought I want to entertain! I learned long ago that "use it or lose it" is so very true, and I continue to "use it" as long as I have any say in the matter!
As far as my food choices, I don't foist them upon anyone else, but will talk about it with anyone who asks! And, I have often had people ask me what I eat and how I work out. I always hear these things as compliments and am happy to share my experiences with them. I went into the personal training area because I like to help people and now I get paid to do it. A Win Win! In the end, I feel that each person will do what makes them happy and I can only tell them how my choices have worked for me.
I hope you had a great day at the rink!!!
Best to you and your wife and your furry family!!!
