I will be on Medicare this August.  I will be on the plan that was offered to DH from his former employer who is the City of Chicago.  It's an Aetna Advantage plan which he has had for 2 years.  It has been phenomenal and we could not be happier.  If a doctor accepts Medicare assignment, they are required by law to accept Advantage plans.

This plan may seem high to others at 292.00 per month for each of us.  However, we have no deductible, no co-pay and the Rx plan is through CVS Caremark and the costs are according to the tiers.

DH had a toe amputation 1 1/2 years ago that required weekly visits to a wound care center for 2+ months.  With the hospital costs, the prosthetic shoe, the wound care and supplies...we paid $0.

Be careful when on the phone with them. They called here and my husband was just seeking more information. The next thing you know, the rep had signed him up, without being clear she was doing so. The rep will switch you to a licensed agent, who then asks you a couple of questions, and low and behold, poof, you’re signed up. Make sure you tell them over and over, you do not want to sign up with them during an inquiry phone call. Tell them over and over.

I signed up with Humana for Medicare Supplement for Plan G.

I need a very thorough plan since I must have tests for the next 3 years as a recent cancer survivor.

I also signed up for Humana Rx plan through Walmart  Most of my meds on this will be free or very inexpensive .

I also will be able to exercise w/my Silver Sneakers benef.it through Humana for the Supplement .This alone saves me at least $50.00 a month in gym fees.

This may change at some point in the future.

Also, look at Mutual of Omaha's Plan G supplement. This was quoted to me at $86.00 a month and M of O  has been in Medicare Supplement insurance for over 50 years and has a very good track record.

And that is not available to me in my area, so I pay $126.50 for Plan G with Blue Cross.  So you do have to check on your area to see what is available at what price.

Does Mcare still take the basic $129.00 out of your social Sec. in addition to this charge?

Take a look at how much more these plans are in my zip code. You are lucky if you have such great prices. Annual costs for supplements in my Florida zip code are unbelieveable. The monthly premiums are not horrible, but the “Estimate Annual Cost, at over 9K per year, make my head swim. These prices come from the gov midicre

website. You just put in your zip code there to get this information. I’m not sure why the annual costs are so much higher than the annual premiums are. This is a link. https://www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan/questions/medigap-home.aspx

Re: " Midicare Members "

[ Edited ]

Call me stupid. If anyone can explain this definition (below) of estimated annual cost from the givernment’s website, I’d appreciate it.

When using this tool, this is an estimate of the average amount you might expect to spend each year for your health coverage. The estimates include the following:

Plan benefits (coverage)
Costs for premiums, copayments, deductibles, coinsurance
Costs not covered by your insurance
Your out-of-pocket costs are based on actual health coverage use by people with Medicare, and they may differ depending on your age and health status. Also, if you have limited income and resources, your expenses may be lower.

@Mindy D  Mcare will take $134- amonth for Part B medical. then you pay for the supplement or advantage plan you want. Know that Plan F will stop taking new member in 2020.

Actually, not everyone pays the same for medicare. It is income based. A few pay less and some pay much more. The majority pay $134.
