I have Delta dental, it's regular insurance, not a supplement to another primary dental coverage.

I think a dental supplement is a good idea if you have issues-

FYI, I find there is no regulation in dental care- I went to a dentist at one time who had a lot of very expensive equipment, and suddenly my teeth that had always been fine, needed 3 crowns and root planing- What?? I got another opinion from a friend's recommended dentis and all these things were not necessary at the time- 

Be careful with dentistry!! It's unregulated. Some will talk, you into work that is not needed- And how would we know  if it's needed or not? We don't-

@Tinkrbl44 I had my work done over 10 years ago but as I remember there was a price list highter prices for insturctors and lower prices for high level students. I am going to see if I can  find a price list on their website

Do dental schools accept dental insurance plans or is it an all cash situation?  

I'm sure it varies, but wondering what yours does, to get an idea.

Replying to my own thread. I looked at their website and waas not able to find a price list I think that infor waas sent to me by my local dentist

I know Univ of MD Dental School in downtown Baltimore does lots of work , and caters to those that need help with no insurance. My friend needed many teeth pulled at one time and had it done there. My retired dentist teaches there. I also know of a younger person who needed tons of work done and had it done there, very satisfied. 

I paid a very high end perio doc in my area, 7000 for one implant, not including my final crown. My insurance paid 1500 of it.

I've carried Delta Dental for 13 years; no complaints, but no complex dental issues either.

I agree with Delta Dental, we've had them for as long as I can remember, very pleased with them.

I pay $47 a month for my dental insurance with Delta Dental.  Its their silver policy, so its right in the middle of pay to dentists.  Its great for routine care but  only pays $1000. for whatever services per year. I used it the end of 2023 and just finished this month for 2024.  So I got the full benefits for each year paid. But, I still had to pay $5300. out of pocket. Dental insurance is not like medical insurance.  Theres a cap on payments depending on what plan you use. No matter, there is always out of pocket payments.  Its really discouraging.

I have a private dental insurance policy that pays $1500 in a year as well as my Medicare plan that also pays $1500 a year . Unfortunately my dental office billed both as primary insurance so receiving over $150 more than the total bill was . After talking to them about it and getting the runaround , l called the Medicare insurance and told them they had paid out over $160 too much  . Medicare then took back the money from the dentist . . So the dental office sent me a letter stating that I was responsible for the amount that they took back and sent me a bill for the $160 , even though the bill was completely paid for by my primary private insurance and there was only $11 dollars left to pay . So l called my Medicare dental and explained it to them . They said no way am I responsible for that, they were overpaid in the first place . The Medicare dental representatives put me on hold and called the dental office , it took a really long time , then she said it was difficult to get the office to understand it , and they finally told her that they had computer issues and that they were now fixed so I didn't owe them any money .  Funny thing , I had been in back and forth discussions with them about this , it was already several months earlier it started , l even sent them copies of the EOB statements from both insurance companies , highlighted the payments , added them up , with the bills etc , clearly showing an overpayment !  I changed dentist now , first appointment is in 2 weeks . Just wondering how many other places over bill like that ! And then blame the computer , ya sure !

@Q-Checker : DH had 2 sets of implants fail  ( it happens occasionally; nobody ever mentions that possibility!) and he now has a complete set of dentures. We went to very good specialists; it is what it is!
