plantar warts

Does anyone know of a treatment for plantar warts? My son has about 25 on his right foot near the heal. We tried over the counter treatments,( compound w and an generic one too). Went to his pedtrician and she "froze" it 3 times. Recommened we see a podiatrist, he has treated it 4 times and now it is so painful that my son can't walk on it. He is walking on his tiptoe on that foot. He is in terrible pain. The Podiatrist says he is doing all he can do and that it takes time. I hate to see him in such pain. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks
