@Pooky1Medicare used to have one of those "we'll call you back at such and such a time" offers.  I've never had to ask for the info you want, but I know I used to use that service instead of hanging on.

Any chance they still do that?

@Pooky1 ~ Is there a local Medicare office you can call/go to to help with this very important information?  You can try calling as soon as Medicare opens, but don't know how successful you'll be actually speaking to anyone.  Here in the city where I live there's a Medicare helpline you can call, and I've found them to be quite helpful.

Did you file a paper application or an online application?

Did you ever sign up for an account on the Medicare website?  It's the only way to get info about "you."

FWIW...

The few times I have called Medicare, I was never on hold for longer than a minute to speak w/a live person.

@Mz iMac ~ Wow,  consider yourself very fortunate that you actually don't have to "hold" to "speak" to someone at Medicare.

Maybe it depends on the state you live in?  Years ago, I remember calling for my parents (who lived in FL) and always was able to speak to someone.  As for myself, just a few years back, I was also able to speak to an actual person at Medicare...that was from UT and AZ.

Now when I need to most, that seems to be nonexistent from AK.

There's a local Medicare helpline I can call for information, or as you suggested, go online.

I'm not clear on just what you are seeking.  Have you applied for SS benefits?  If so, Medicare services would be made available to you.

You can call 1-800-1213 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday or apply on line at www.socialsecurity.gov.

Email/call your Congressman, that's one of the things he/she can help you with quickly.  To the poster that suggested going to your local SS office:  not all communities have this option, I lived 2.5 hrs from nearest office and a rep would come to our community one or two times mthly!

Monday is the worst time to call. They are also busy during normal lunch hours.

Wait unti WednesdY or Thursday and call again.

i have found that the Medicare website is easy to navagate.  When you are relaxed, try again.

The few times I needed to call Medicare, I used the call back feature.

I agree with Carmie.  Do not call on Monday.  That is the busiest day of the week for a call center.  Everyone has been waiting all weekend to call.  Wednesday & Thursday are the best days and call first thing in the morning.
