home stairlifts such as Stannah brand?

Has anyone here had any experience, good or bad, with a stairlift?

Thanks in advance.

Can't remember the name of mine, but have had it for two years. It makes such a difference in my life, would not be without it. The price was steep, but mobility is the reward.

I know of a local older couple who had stairlifts installed (I don't know the brand) but found them too slow and instead used them as dumbwaiters to move stuff up and down the stairs. They'd put whatever they want to move from one floor to another on the chair lift and send it on the way then retrieve it when it got upstairs/downstairs. They spent thousands on the lifts, but found them too cumbersome to use themselves, but handy for moving stuff they didn't feel comfortable carrying up or down stairs.

Thanks for the replies. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I particularly enjoyed gardenman's reply. If we get one, I really hope to use it for more than moving stuff up and down the stairs.

I have a rep coming over to give us an evaluation.

Just be sure there is someone locally who can service the one you decide to buy.
