I was told that low Vitamin D can be responsible for depression.  Talk to your doctor about it. I'm taking 2,000 units of Vitamin D recommended by my doctor and no longer feel sad or depressed, feeling really good for a couple of years.  But don't take it without talking to your doctor and taking a blood test.....

If you're on a tablet or phone, you can enlarge the graphic with your thumb and forefinger.

There are many levels of depression.  Persons suffering from depression.  Your suggestions sound as if it might help one suffering from the blues, but a professional would be the best.

Re: everyday help for depression

All excellent suggestions, but often depressed people don't want to do those things or anything at all.

Sometimes they don't recognize they are depressed. Men will often deny it because they think it's a sign of weakness.

Many people will take a pill, though, because it doesn't take much effort, one of the reasons why antidepressants have been so successful.
