Re: did you ever have rotator cuff issues?

@hckynut - I remember those rubber type cables well - had one in every color and faithfully used them several times a day.

I have a female friend, 72, who tore her rotator cuff last year and had a shoulder replacement instead of a repair.  She was very happy with the outcome, and was not in severe pain post-operatively.  Her orthopedist said that the total replacement was easier to heal from than a repair would have been.

I have heard this also....I wonder why one is done over the other?  Boy, the rotator cuff surgery is a "B*tch" !!  5 months later and I'm still in pain.

@PilatesLover-- just a side note:  Your husband will depend on you for almost everything after the surgery.  Be prepared.  My husband helped me dress and cut up my food for me, among other things....

Thank you .... I'm bracing myself for it.

Recovering from a recent shoulder replacement is not fun by any means.  Injuries to shoulders are just the pitsSmiley Sad

Re: did you ever have rotator cuff issues?

Yep, I rotator cuff tears in both my shoulders. I had to have surgery to repair them, then a course of physical therapy (for each one). My left shoulder is about 85% usable but there are some things I'll never be able to use it for again. My right shoulder is 100% good.

This was several years ago. If I had the same problems today, I'd look into stem cell therapy before choosing surgery (6 weeks in what felt like a strait-jacket was no fun).
