Has anyone been treated with convalescent plasma?
Did your doctor have to apply for its use?
Please share you experience, Thanks

Most recent FDA rules on use of convalescent plasma:

The FDA has approved its use on an emergency basis.
A TV doc said that they have to apply to the FDA to use it and this often is a long process.
It is not for use for hospitalized COVID patients or patients using oxygen. It is apparently intended for mild to moderate cases.
If so, I wonder if it is being offered to newly diagnosed cases?
Were you offered this therapy when you were diagnosed?
The Mayor of Fort Worth just discussed getting this 90 minute infusion and felt wonderful after just a few hours. The president said something similar about his experience.
I was just wondering if this therapy is widely available or limited.

I believe they gave Monoclonal Antibodies at Walter Reed.
Edited for brain wave.

It was on Myrtle Beach news that one hospital Tidewater was given only a handful.
Doctor said they would be given to people that don't need to be hospitalized in order to keep those beds open.

My cardiologist was teling me how awful it was that people were not getting the medical care (treatments/medications) that would really help them in relation to the virus. A mayor in a city near to us got the convelescent plasma and said she was almost immediately well. How she got it when the supply is so low is having pull and being the mayor! My understanding is that this treatment is mostly used in hospitals for the really sick.

How much does the conval plasma for covid cost? Insurance does not cover the cost of it because it hasn't been cleared for regular use.

@Drythe Reed used Regeneron, not convalescent plasma. Regeneron uses monoclonal antibodies. He also had an antiviral med, Remdesivir, and a steroid plus zinc, vitamin D, famotidine (the medication in Pepcid, for heartburn or acid reflux), melatonin and a daily aspirin

The step daughter of our best friend put out a plea for convalescent plasma donors for her bio dad. He had COVID. He did get the plasma but he unfortunately died.
