Try a massage therapist; I didn't like it at first, but my chiropractor talked me into it.
Now I'm addicted!!! And I've stopped seeing a chiropractor (my original one died and I can't find a good replacement.) Decided to just go with the massage therapist.
Also, if you can, exercise and keep flexible. I've been walking forever and do all kinds of stretching and yoga.
I refuse to go to an MD. Done with those many many years ago. All they want to do is surgery.
If you go to acupuncture, be very careful to find someone who has practiced a long time and preferably is doing Chinese medicine. My chiropractor's daughter had become a licensed acupuncturist and experimented on me for about a year and it did nothing for me. I'm not totally turned off, but will find a Chinese doc if I ever decide to try that again.

Too bad you don't believe in chiropractors! Wouldn't be able to function w/o mine! JMHO

I know many swear by it, but I just do not trust them as there are so many bad ones who take advantage of people and insurance companies.Do you know a good chiropractor? My chiropractor helped me with the same problem. He did a couple of adjustments but he also showed me how to move properly and gave me stretching exercises. One tip was never bend over from the waist. Either squat or sit.
I have the same feelings about chiropractors.

I am not into chiropractic care either. I know some people swear by it, but my daughter was permanently harmed by it. I know that is rare, rare rare. But it did happen to her. However, I cannot suggest accupunture highly enough. It is peaceful, painless and totally relaxing to me. It doesn't last long, just like other treatments. But when I do go, I feel very good after.
I would be willing to bet that a higher percentage of people have been permanently harmed by MDs than by chiropractors. The problem is the harm done by an incompetent chiropractor is more dramatic. I was terrified by the idea of a chiropractor but I was in such pain I finally decided to take a chance. I got recommendations from several people and when I had my first appointment I had an hour long conversation with my chiropractor about exactly what he intended to do before I let him touch me. Over the years he has helped my with numerous pain issues without the harmful side effects of medication.

Did the pain start after you got the new mattress? What type of mattress is it? Do you have any lung or breathing problems?
