Re: assistance with finding therapist...

@Mom2Dogs

NO response to my reasons WHY do people start taking drugs?

I had hoped for some response, any at all!

I must be the foremost expert here -- I KNOW that is not true.

Re: assistance with finding therapist...

@LTT1....yes, I thought more responses would have been posted.

I am not sure what 'pain' he woud have that would make him abuse drugs....but we are not in each other's lives on a daily basis.  I do speak with his mom often, I know how he was raised.

Right now I am so angry with him, and also very worried that he will never win this  battle....usually I am a  positive person.....

@esmeraldagooch

Sorry I did not mean to "rope" you into this!

i always include everybody in the discussion...

@Mom2Dogs

It is my opinion that kids today have psychic pain often buried deeply within. Often, caring family members are the last to know (I know this from teaching kids with special conditions). Young people get very good at hiding their pain and acting "normal."

Often, with my teens, eventually I figured out "their deal."  I would have a lightbulb moment only because a situation would present itself.

They get very very good at punishing their parents while hurting themselves.  Long and many stories. Just know that within the boundaries of their everyday situation the solution does not reside. A professional is to be called upon. I hurt for you because you are the aunt.

Re: assistance with finding therapist...

@LTT1...thank you!  I am heart sick...this kid had/has good parents (dad and grandparents have their head in the sand) ...got good grades in school, popular...he even had a small scholarship to a local college after graduating high school (never used it!)  etc....makes me wonder what is troubling him.....again thank you
