Another vote for a change in diet, as others have said it could not hurt.
Thinking of you and sending warmest wishes. Take good care.

Hi,
I was diagnosed in 1999. I am still able to walk. However, I do tire easily. My internist suggested water exercise as an option. It might be something that you could consider.Best wishes to you.

wow! Thank you all for taking the time to respond! In fact, I could do a stationary bike, and there's a swimming pool 15 miles away that I never thought about! And boy, I loved barre classes too....I am lifting weights, doing yoga and pilates all at home.
Right now, I am not able to walk or drive but 3 weeks ago I was hiking up to 3 miles a day, walking my doggie in the park with my husband. I am having either an exacerbation or disease progression. Will know more in a few weeks when I get MRI and then hopefully steroids
re: diet- we eat practically everything we grow ourselves in organic garden, plus wild/organic fish and eggs. tiny bit of Protein every meal, then veggies. I have to be careful not to engage with anything that stimulates my immune system!!! I look to Dr Andrew Weil and Dr Vijayshree Yadav for advice

Hope this is OK to post. It just came up on my FB feed this evening...timely!
It's a lecture by Dr. John McDougall explaining MS & how to control thei diet, etc. He was an internist early in his career, so he can explain what this autoimmune disease is to those of us that do not have a clear understanding. HTH for anyone reading.

Hi Helen, I hope you're doing well. Not sure if you're newly diagnosed or if you've been dealing with this for a while.
There's a book called 'In This Together' by Ann Romney that's about finding out she had MS, the initial devastation and fears and overcoming them.
She's very soft spoken and a very calming person and although I haven't read the book myself, I'll bet she touches base for other's struggles with understanding.
She was at a point barely able to walk and thought she would be wheelchair bound, but was able to run the last lap with the Olympic torch. She's in remission now.
I hope you're feeling better and the holidays weren't too much to get through.
Just wanted you to know you're being thought of here.![]()

Helen Bach, I don't have MS but a dear friend lived with it for many years.
In her early diagnosis she had a successful and very healthy pregnancy, and remained relatively mobile until she broke her ankle.
If you have enough strength in your legs, you might find that rowing on a rowing machine would appeal to you. I've job St started, and I really enjoy it.
Hope you find something that helps!

It's a great book, she is a great advocate and her story sounded a lot like mine. In the beginning, just being totally devastated and then through faith and family, moving on to a better place. I was fortunate enough to meet her on one occasion and hear her tell her story. I do believe anyone with MS can find encouragement from her experience.
