Saw this doctor for allergies and was told to come back in six weeks for cleaning in one ear after taking prescribed drops. Because of the flu raging everywhere, I'm thinking of cancelling my appointment next week. It hardly seems worth taking a chance at place like that when my issue is so minor. Please tell me what you think. TIA!

I re-scheduled a routine doctor appointment for that reason. We are in peak flu season and his office is located in the hospital. I have been avoiding crowds etc and knock wood, I've been healthy. I didn't even go to my church's Christmas program. It's always packed full.
But in your case you need a re-check. Maybe you should call the office. Some doctor offices have made accommodations in keeping sick folks in a separate waiting room.

If it were me I would keep my appointment and wear a filter mask while in the waiting room and when leaving until I got in my car.

@Twixy 6 Weeks will bring you to the beginning of March. It might be ok by then.

She says her appointment is next week not in 6 weeks

I think this is her 6 week follow up appointment that she's talking about.
Yes, I would postpone unterl after flu season if you can get in. My ENT is booked up pretty tight and it's hard to change your appointment once you get one.

The thing to remember about canceling is that you may not be able to get an appt when you want/need one. So if it was me I’d be asking myself how much I wanted to cancel vs how badly I “need” the appt.
If I had an ENT and I was sick with a cold or flu that isn’t the first place I’d hang out. ENTs are specialists. I wouldn’t go to a specialist for something a GP would handle. I wouldn’t think a ton of contagious people would be in an ENT office more than another office, especially a GP or PCP.

I'm on the fence with this one. I don't know why you went in the first place - pain? I do know these doctors try to keep you coming and coming - a filled waiting room makes them look good and $$$. I think the decision is totally yours - you know your body - we don't.

Seriously? Cancel a scheduled doctors appt because of the flu outbreak? I went to my eye doctor the other day, sat with a room full of elderly people, and I'm still here to talk about it. Just keep your hands washed and you will be fine. Geez
