Ford, I think it would be good to get these checked...you may need an adjustment of our Synthroid. When it's off you can feel terrible. Hope you are feeling better?

Emmiesmom, I debated on whether to mention this but since you continue to post specific diagnoses and surgeries about the client you are a caregiver for, I really feel it is important to point out you are violating your patient's rights here and could very well get into serious trouble if your employer ever found out you were posting this content on here. And in today's world, it is not a far stretch of the imagination that could happen.

I hope you take this in the spirit in which it is offered. But all clients of any health care services are guaranteed certain rights (patient bill of rights). Confidentiality is a key component of the patient bill of rights. And while you haven't disclosed her name, there are several pieces of very specific information here that honestly, a court of law could very well view as a violation.

Employees have been fired by their employers for just this type of thing, so be very careful. Needless to say, you really shouldn't be discussing specifics of anything now that this individual has been identified as a patient you are providing care for from a health care delivery service. But more than anything, you need to safeguard any and all information about any client you provide services for and not discuss them as your patients on any type of social media or internet forum.

It would be far better to post asking a question about "someone" you know. That way it is very generic and as far as anyone would know....it could be a relative of yours. But don't include information that anyone is a patient of yours along with very specific information of diseases and surgeries she has had. Wink

ETA: I know you mean well and want to help, but this could get you into quite a bit of trouble and bottom line....it just isn't ethical for health care providers.

No one here knows me or my name. I understand what you're saying and I would never give out her name. When I worked for doctors they discussed their patients, they never said their names..

You are not discussing this woman's case with other doctors here in a medical setting. And please be advised you do not have to give the name of the patient to violate confidentiality or HIPAA. Employers have fired individuals for giving out enough information about the health status that someone "might" be able to determine who it is by putting the pieces of information together.

I say this with your best interest at heart. Discussing a patient, while identifying the gender of said patient, along with specifics of their health condition on any type of social media or internet forum is a big no-no. It might be a long shot chance, but it is one that I wouldn't take or advise anyone else to take. If you are a CNA, you should have had this content covered in your course.

I won't respond anymore as to just let either this thread move on down, or at least if this thread stays active that the content you posted hopefully gets buried in the thread.

emmiesmom: Did you have any of your posts on this thread deleted?? I'm asking because I don't see where you have given out any personal information at all. There are posts on this thread that are far more revealing than anything you have posted.

I think someone here is trying to stir the pot and/or is trying to let others know how much she knows. It's just not working this time.

I have read every post you have written here emmiesmom and you have absolutely nothing to be afraid of. Nobody knows where you live, your name, the name of the person you are talking about, etc.... I just don't get it....... or maybe I do....Wink

I just want to add that I am certainly not advising anyone do anything without their doctor's okay. Just to share what I have learned from living with Addison's and I urge everyone to seek medical advice for their treatment. Learning more will only let you better participate in your care but always ask your doctor his/her advice.

addie, I was looking for advice and my client is a smart cookie and she's seeing a great doctor. She is appreciative of any new ideas, and you have Addison's and are kind enough to share what works for you! Thats what these forums are for, sharing ideas! Thats what support forums do as well!
