100% agree with all the comments about the rude and insensitive remark about laziness! What a nasty thing to say.

I find this lazy way of losing weight by taking drugs disgusting. Why are doctors prescribing this? They must be getting a huge kickback by giving their patients more drugs to take. What happened to the days of eating a healthy diet and exercise?? Lazy, lazy, lazy.

What a horrible thing to say. Judging others whom you do not even know. I have read many hurtful posts by you on these boards, I  guess you want to show us what kind of person you truly are.

@ID2 I think your statements are disgusting and disgraceful.  Maybe the mods can ban you from the board.

@ID2,

Your post is just what the special tonight on ABC was talking about. The shaming and ignorance of what obesity is and calling people lazy or just exercise and don't eat so much has got to stop. I wish you could have seen this excellent program.

Some who are overweight can exercise and watch calories etc. The doctors explained how not everyone who is overweight has the disease of obesity. And it has many complexities and different for everyone. They explained how some can lose weight and others can't and why.

And yes these drugs change many parts of the body and brain to help with weight loss. But not everyone can keep on them due to side effects.

You are lucky that you never had to experience this. But it is

statements like yours that are very detrimental and do no good to anyone. Your weight and health is nothing to be proud of if you can shame others who have health or weight problems.

It has got to stop.

What kind of person do you want to be? One who is kind and empathetic to others or just always telling others how to do it just like you and they are lazy if they don't.

The poster who is shaming others claims to be a Type 1 diabetic that was 70 pounds overweight solved by walking. As a Type 1 myself for 54 years, it is almost impossible to be overweight. A simple adjustment of insulin keeps a Type 1 very thin and the more you eat, the more likely you lose weight. Higher blood sugars increase weight loss.

I lost a very close friend in 2006 to the disease of obesity. He was down to 1000 calories a day because his metabolism was so messed up from constant dieting. I have many people in my life that cannot lose weight and keep it off and not for lack of trying. I pray that these meds become affordable and easy to access for all those struggling with their weight. And PLEASE STOP THE SHAMING, I agree with you @on the bay .

I couldn't agree with you more.  I don't know why some people believe if you don't lose weight a certain way it's wrong.  If losing weight were that simple, no one would choose to be overweight.  I too, am so glad these medications are now available to people.  Let's just hope the insurance companies will now make them affordable.

I have members of my family who can eat anything and never have a weight problem (no exercise) while others struggle their whole lives with obesity.  Don't tell them to go and walk to lose 70 poundsCat Mad,
