Re: Your thoughts on sugar substitutes

I gave up using sugar substitutes years ago. I'm a diabetic but don't use any substitutes. I came to the realization that I wanted to eat healthy many years ago. Everything I eat is a "whole" food. Due to the many chemicals and bioengineered things going on in packaged foods I make my own now.

I use natural sugar substitutes like monk fruit or stevia. These are much different than bad for you chemically made substitutes.

As for soda, it's been a long time since I drank it. I tend to drink ice water a lot each day. Sometimes I will add lemon which is tasty and refreshing.

Re: Your thoughts on sugar substitutes

@AuntG   I'm a diabetic. Due to my specific issues, it was better simply cut out sugar products and in doing that, avoiding replacement products that use artificial sweeteners. Why? Horrible headaches, diarrhea and numbness on the right side of my tongue due to the chemical makeup of said sweeteners. RARELY I will have a Coke Zero because I want something other than water. Also, tea is something I enjoy and on a cold day, nothing warms me as a cup of tea does. When having that cup of tea, I use Lessmans' Sucress; no issues with it but again, I don't use it that often.

I hope this helps. Everyone is different; this has just been my experience with sugar substitutes. Smiley Happy

I use sparingly--mostly powdered stevia and monkfruit in my hot drinks. I have never cooked with any of them. I use organic can sugar--the one that is light brown--when I bake.

Once or twice a year, I treat my tastebuds to Diet Pepsi.  Don't care for D. coke. It seems sweeter to me.  Others may disagree.  Other than that, I don't use those.

I avoid sugar substitutes. I  dislike their taste. To me, there is no substitute for sugar, but I'm not diabetic and need substitutes.

@AuntG

Good luck with doing whatever works to make you feel better.  At 69, I have decided to focus on living my simple life until it runs out, and not let useless thoughts take up space in my head.
