Per New York Times, Wuhan has established at least three mass quarantine areas where citizens are being forcibly tested and then to these. Very crowded conditions and minimal food, medicine and medical personnel. Now there are multiple labs outside China (400) that have expedited the testing of samples and can determine if a person is infected within a couple of hrs.

So very, very sad.
I have been following all the stories in the news and on the travel websites.
I am hoping a cure can be discovered soon!

I heard where they built a hospital in months. That's unbelievable.
Then another person said they believed this disease has been around for much longer than we were told and they'd been working on the hospital long before we knew about any of this.

I just read the doctor that tried to warn people about it got it and has died. He felt he may be in trouble for discussing it since apparently he wasn't supposed to. Last I heard he was in the hospital with it. He was in critical care but has now passed.

Authorities in Wuhan have been scrambling to turn nearly a dozen public facilities, including sports and exhibition centers, into makeshift hospitals to handle the surge in coronavirus patients, according to reports.
The Hongshan Gymnasium, the Wuhan International Conference and Exhibition Center and a cultural complex known as the “Wuhan Living Room” are being converted into temporary hospitals, according to the state-run Xinhua News Agency.
Officials in the central Chinese city, also have announced plans to transform eight other sites into medical facilities. In total, the 11 makeshift medical centers will provide more than 11,000 beds for coronavirus patients in the city of about 11 million people.
Two full fledged hospitals have already been built in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, in record time to care for coronavirus patients.

@Annabellethecat66 : The 600,000 ft hospital was built in less than two weeks... and now they have built two more. China has the ability to do amazing things because they have so many people and the ability to control the people and resources. Btw, the USA did the same in WWII when we ramped up the military and manufacturing (we were building planes, ships and weapons at an amazing rate).

The hospital was built mostly of a bunch of pre-fab units stacked on top of each other.
Those pics look like a miserable way to possibly spend the end of one's life. I doubt there will be much real care given.

@colliemom4 it is true, the Chinese researcher who discovered the virus was in his 30's. Gov't officials say he died of pneumonia.
Not exactly the elderly patient with pre-existing conditions.

I'm trying hard not to panic, and to stop worrying that Stephen King's The Stand is coming true to life. ![]()
