Ladies -  You never know how many other readers are benefiting from your thoughts and wisdom regarding  someone's post Heart

@Luvsmyfam I'm so glad your mammogram was clear and you can feel relieved.

I'm sending you a virtual ((hug))

@BirkiLady I took interest in your comment to @Luvsmyfam

Today, I have my first infusion of Zometa, a bone medicine.  I am worried about the possible side effects that I hope I never experience.  Jaw necrosis, yikes!

Prayers and hugs to all my C sistersHeart

@shy bobcat  I haven't had any side effects from the 18 months of daily injections of Forteo OR the infustions (every six months). I'm confident these bone medications have been researched well and are safe.

However, it you do experience a side effect let your physician or specialist know ASAP. There are other avenues to persue; you do not need to suffer in order to have strong bones! The process is painless. Best wishes.

@BirkiLady  Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts.

My infusion went well today.  The consent forms and explanation of possible side effects of which I was not aware, gave me thoughts of refusing but, I went ahead with the plan. I trust my oncologist but, on the other hand, have seen suffering due to treatment medications. Perhaps that is why panic is not far away.

I'm glad you're doing well and hope the same for myself.

@shy bobcat  So happy yesterday went well. I still don't know why they are called "infusions" when (to me) it's simply a shot in a thick upper arm muscle! Have a feeling the word "infusion" scares patients. Sorry I didn't warn you about that terminology yesterday, but I forgot about it.

How are you feeling today? Hopefully fine. You have an appointment for six months for the next infusion? That one (and all subsequent ones) will be much quicker since there won't be the learning curve for you and the staff. You'll check in, they will get the meds and prepare everything, check your ID and give you the correct dosage. You'll wait about 15-20 minutes to make sure you don't have any reactions and then leave. That's it.

I'll be on them for the rest of my life as maintenance for healthy bones. Works for me (so far). Hope your DEXA scans show improvement as mine have with the FORTEO daily injections and you are able to stay on the injections. They are much easier and insurance pays for them!

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers - and continued best wishes for improved healthy bones.

@BirkiLady

I so appreciate your thoughts and comments. You have been very helpful and I thank you.  I am doing well today and it's a new day!  Yesterday, my infusion was liquid medicine put into my vein via an IV drip. I'm not taking any oral bone medicine. The bone med infusion is to treat the bone weakness caused by a different daily med that I take.

@shy bobcat   That's interesting. No wonder yours is, indeed, an infusion. Glad you are feeling well today. Sincerely hope this helps strength your bones.
