Is it for real? If so anyway to not hear it? I don't know what I hear only that I am driven nuts. And it is lasting too long

@halfpint1. Did you discuss hearing these noises with your doctor? If so, what did he say?

I can't sleep at all without 'white noise'. I have an air cleaner on my bedside table to provide it.

No crickets. I have something b y my bed also. It is so noisy now. I have called the ac but no one hears it. They are not here when I hear it this bad. Even my son doesn't hear it. AC or I hope the water pipes didn't break for they were on tonight. My doctor will have me take a hearing test but they are so busy I can't get in right now. I wo uldn't wish this on any one!

For months I have read your threads and posts about hearing "something." My heart goes out to you because clearly you have not had the issue resolved. Why aren't you seeing a physician that is willing to help you with this? Speak to your son about making you an appointment with a specialist. It is mandatory that it is done TODAY AND NOT TOMORROW. If your regular physician can not see you, find someone that can. It isn't fair that you have to live this way....

Interesting post....sorry for the discomfort it is causing you.
i had mentioned that I heard birds singing...DH just looked at me and said really?
whenever it is really quiet, I hear the sound of birds singing in trees as you would during an early morning walk in Springtime. Making a note now to mention this to my doctor at my annual checkup next week.
Prefer the birdsong to cricket chorus !

Sometimes I hear clicking or light ringing but that comes and goes. I believe most of the noises I hear is tinnitus. It's annoying and if it gets worse and unbearable I would seek the attention of my doctor for it. Not sure what they can do other than give me drugs.

DH and I don't like total silence when we go to bed so we put on Alexa during night with soothing music and sometimes ocean, waterfalls and thundering storms (we sleep like babies).

I assume you have some form of Tinnitus. Occasionally I hear a "whistling" sound as I have ear issues.
White noise is the man-made sounds (via a CD, website, etc.) to drown out the bothersome noise coming from your brain (not ears). I empathize with you. I went to a Tinnitus specialist who advised me to wear earbuds with soft music several hrs. a day ... try to seek a specialist as I know the frustration.
