What keeps you awake at night?

[ Edited ]

For me it's arthritis pain, mostly left shoulder and right ankle. Sometimes hands and knees.Random thoughts, thinking about stuff i need to do, my husband's snoring, having to let my dog out. Usually around 0300 I get up, eat pop tarts with my dog, take Tylenol. Can usually go to sleep after that but then it's hard to get up.

It's a nightly routine.

What are your nightly issues?

Not much keeps me up at night. Sometimes I have pain in my left hip and that is my cue to turn over. The other thing that keeps me up is my dog will lick my face or hands.

Re: What keeps you awake at night?

honestly, my days are so filled up and busy that i am so ready to be in bed and asleep by midnight. i usually sleep alone. on the rare occasion that i need help falling asleep, i will take a melatonin and/or a restless leg supplement and watch the hallmark channel. i think i am sleeping better than ever as i age. lol

My dog's twitching and jerking while she sleeps. Shakes the whole bed and wakes me up! Then I can't get back to sleep. Between that and my need to pee several times a night, it's no wonder I can't get a good night's sleep.

@smoochy  Have you tried Arthritis Strength Tylenol at bedtime?  It's stronger than Extra Strength Tylenol and time released so that it lasts 8 hours.  It works well for the arthritis pain in my hands and wrists that used to wake me up.  Just a suggestion.

Usually having to use the facilities!  Also my hip pain at times but I take tylenol and am usually able to go back to sleep.
