Re: What is the highest BP you have had ?

@SeaMaiden What natural supplements do you use that help with your BP?  Mine has been high my last few dr's appointments and he has me monitoring at home and I have to see him again in three months or sooner depending on my average readings.  My readings are all over the place, sometimes normal and other times pretty high.  Both my parents and brothers had/have high blood pressure and I really do not want to go on meds.

I have no idea what my highest BP has ever been. However, high BP has never been the reason I went to the ER. Other than that, I am not sure if you are asking another question(s).

If you have been prescribed BP meds, I assume the prescribing doctor can tell you what to do with your daily dosage. A tight chest? That could be from any number of things, too many to even list.

You say you "have had heart rate problems". Are you talking about A-Fib/PVC(which I have had for decades)/Bradycardia? If you have a specific question, and I have experienced the same, I will tell you my experiences with it, but only if you have been given your diagnosis from your doctor.

Like others here may have already said in their posts. Best to see, or talk with your doctor(s) about BP and possible heart issues.

My highest was 210/110.  I've been plagued with high BP  all my life.  I take 2 meds for it.  It's a battle.  Now it ranges in the 140/70 numbers.  It goes sky high at the Dr.  When I was around 12 I remember the Dr. telling my mom that I had awfully high blood pressure for a skinny little kid.

I have not had high BP since I was a Sophomore in high school. I was a very fat kid, now I would be called close to morbidly  obese.

After heart attack #2, my Cardiologist wanted me to keep my BP as low as possible, and still be able to function. Started out at 100mg/which my BP to be too low for my lifestyle. Cut it to 50mg and it still was running too low.

Dropped it to 25mg/12.5mg in the morning/12.5mg at night. That kept it where it didn't effect my lifestyle. My BP was generally around the 90/60 area.

I got him to agree to let me quit for a month to see how it would effect my BP. It didn't so he took me off of the med about 2 years ago. Still runs in the 90/60 range.

And yes, the BP meds did effect my Maximum Heart Rate. As an athlete my resting Heart Rate has always been around 40bpm or lower. The meds did not change that but!

I had to recalibrate all my workout Heart Rates. My warmup prior to meds was 115bpm, and my Aerobic Heart Rate was around 125bpm, and my Maximum was around 155-160bpm. Well, on the BP meds, my Maximum was 117bpm. Was like that from 2007-2017.

Off the meds had to recalibrate again, but at 11 years older, and a twice damaged heart. Right now my resting HR is still in the low 40's. My warmup for working out and ice skating is 120bpm. My max now is 150-155 bpm, but!

With 4 broken ribs still healing, if i want to take a deep breath without feeling like being stabbed with a knife? I keep my Maximum at 140-145bpm, I can still skate and breathe, just no deep breaths.  In a year or so if my ribs are healed? Hopefully those numbers will change for the better.

I know they say hb pressure is the silent killer , but i can always tell when it is high , how did you feel when it was 210/110 ? Or did you ?

That didn't end up in the ER. Yesterday i had 181/107 and 175/103 . My chest was tight , but no pain , i took my bp medicine and it lowered it. I never miss a dose , but i had been taking it early evening and i am on low dose so i was told i can double it. My bp has been excellent till yesterday , i have had heart rate problems though.

I think you may have to start taking your bp med in the morning. It'll be able to bring down your numbers when your are active during the day. You don't need your numbers brought down when you are relaxed while sleeping.

Re: What is the highest BP you have had ?

I just bought two LARGE jars of high potency Hibiscus extract.

My blood pressure was always low, but since recovering from Covid infection, it's typically higher than I want it to be.

SO- cutting way down on sodium, eating mostly whatI prepare for myself, and seeing what I can do before my scheduled doctor visit at the end of August.

ALSO- VACATION FROM CONTEMPORARY MEDIA!!

High BP is not my issue, I’m normally. 90 / 70.  If I stand up too quickly I black-out, an issue from the opposite perspective.

RE: Sodium 🧂:  If you haven’t done so, stop adding salt to anything you cook.  People can easily ‘salt to taste’ at the table.

You will be better able to SEE how much you add, and slowly reduce it.

As a child I ate salt from the shaker by the hand-full when no one was looking.  Heavy salting continued way into adulthood.  Using this method, + monitoring what we purchase, we are ‘salt free’ so to speak.

Good Wishes.
