What brand do you use and what mg strength?

try triple calm magnesium---- I get it from AMZ. I take 2 caps before bed. Now it doesn't make me sleep longer but what sleep I get is a more quality sleep. If I am lucky, I get 5-6 hours a night. This helped me within a week or so.

I take a very low dose of melatonin. I can't take much magnesium...gives me diarrhea.

I take Natures Made extra strength @ 400 mg. (I don't think the brand matters too much. This one is a liquid capsule.) But also, turmeric capsule, as well as vitamin D -- this combination prescribed by Dr. Ricahrd Becker to promote restful sleep, which I can attest works beautifully!

@fthunt I suffered for months with diarrhea until I finally went to my gastro doc. As soon as he saw my meds list, he reminded me that magnesium is a laxative (i.e., milk of magnesia). I went home and tossed my magnesium supplement. Now, I only take whatever magnesium is included in my multi-vitamin. (I had added a supplement with the hopes of alleviating leg/foot cramps.)

Magnesium, in the wrong kind or dose, can have a laxative effect. Some can be junk and others are better absorbed in the body. You also need to consider other sources in your diet and other supplements, to make sure you aren’t taking too much as there are very serious, even life threatening, side effects. Women should have 320 mg. daily. My choice is magnesium glycinate. Dr Axe has a good article on his website about magnesium deficiency, kinds of magnesium, and dosing.
