Re: What do you do daily for helping with keeping and mantaining good bone density?

I drink milk - oh yes i know some of you will attack me for saying i drink milk but i do. i also exercise daily and get out in the sun to get my vit D. I had a bone density test this winter and it was very good. My vit d levels are also normal.

I am a life long milk drinker. (Now 62 years old) I have been told by several physicians that bone density will never be a problem for me.

I dance every evening, that is my exercise. And for my calcium I eat lots of ice cream.

Good, balanced nutrition and exercise (cardio, weight training and Pilates).

I can't say enough good about strength training. When your muscle mass increases, your bones get stronger, your metabolism increases and your body fat decreases.

I walked, LOTS. Walk my dogs twice a day, no matter what the weather. Each walk is 2 miles, but there's plenty of stopping because it is their time after all.

I do the same ... walk, walk, walk. I walk quite a bit at work. Then I come home & walk the dog. I also do a lot of stooping, bending, stretching & lifting on my job, which, altho' it's only 2 days a week, I think helps my bad knees. I don't take calcium pills, but I do eat quite a bit of yogurt (in smoothies).

I agree; weight training is amazing! It has so many important benefits & it is exciting to see how we improve and grow stronger.
