If you seek actual knowledge please read the criticisms of this film.
Appears to be a sketchy so called "documentary" with cherry picked "data".
Truth comes from investigating and hearing all sides of issues before making decisions.
Most people have investigated & research both sides before promoting
'What the Health'...that is what makes it so powerful & eye-opening.
It's not a big surprise our food & medical system is being governed
by big money...BIG money. It's no secret...this film just reminds us
that WE have the power to be healthy & not succumb to the effects
of Modern Day Illnesses like heart disease, T2 diabetes, obesity, etc.
All that can change with the power of Food! So simple.
"...find actual scholarly resources to support plant based diets."
Yes, there numerous, thousands-hundreds of thousands, of studies which backs the PB benefit....but we don't need that. We have multi-generational cultures throughout the World who have eaten primarily plant-based diets.
Just look to each of our ancestors. Don't need a 'study' for that.
@sidsmom Going to an event tomorrow to hear T.Colin Campbell, Doug Lisle, Chef AJ, Jane Velez Mitchell and a few others speak. So excited to hear Dr. Campbell in person!
OMG! I just saw your message!
I saw a Jane Velez-Mitchell FB Live Jane did in my McDougall Friend's FB page. Can you b.e.l.i.e.v.e Linda Middlesworth is 73yrs old?
I watched the FB Live....were you in there? Jane filmed a little bit in the lobby....would've been cool if you were there!
Dr. Campbell is so sweet. I really need to begin making an effort to go see some of these modern day Plant-Based pioneers...they're not going to be here forever. I would love to shake their hand & thank them for all the knowledge they have given me...and millions around the world...all for free!

@sidsmomYes, I was there, and it was amazing! Linda looks even better in person too! Jane is 62, but I think she looks 20 years younger.
I saw Dr. Esselstyn last August and Dr. McD in February, along with many other great speakers. And the lunch is always catered through a local vegan restaurant.
Amazing speakers, and the one that really got my attention this time was Dr. Joseph Keon, who talked about the link between diet and Alzheimer's. He has a book about it coming out sometime later this year. I was on information overload by the end of the day.
Jane is an amazing voice for animals rights. She had the crowd fired up!
ETA: I have a picture of myself with Dr. E. He is one handsome man, pictures and the documentaries he is in don't do justice to him!

If you're interested with the connection of Alzheimer's & Diet,
there's so much info out there. I haven't heard of Dr. Keon, but
can't wait to dig into his work. Thanks for the recommendation.
Dr. Wes Youngberg is another educator which makes a strong link
to Alzheimer's & diet....he, like Dr. Keon, advocates a low fat
whole food plant based diet. I saw him on a diabetes webinar
where he talked about Alzheimer's being called 'Type 3 Diabetes'
or 'Brain Diabetes'....and Type 2 Diabetes being referred to
'Alzheimers of the Pancreas'.
I have a friend who has lost over 200lb...150ishLBs on a PB diet.
Her motivation was seeing her mother diagnosed with early stages of
Alzheimers...and that's something she doesn't want in her senior years.
She's endured losing much weight & eliminating all her meds (diabetes
medication being first!) just simply by eating the correct foods.
Google 'karla freeze big change' and watch her interview.
Just a normal, regular gal...doing amazing, inspirational work!
Sweet lady.
ps...so lucky you got to take a pic with 'Essy!'

@sidsmomThanks for the info on Dr. Youngberg, I will check him out. My mother had Alzheimers, and I will do everything in my power to keep my brain healthy, and I believe nutrition (and some exercise) is the key. My takeaway from Sunday was that even if a person has the gene, it doesn't mean it has to ever get turned on, good nutrition (plant based) being the key. Both my parents had high cholesterol and high blood pressure, and my mother had quadruple bypass surgery. They were also life long smokers. I am a true believer in "Let food be thy medicine, and medicine by thy food," for myself. My proof is in my bp and cholesterol numbers, I turned them both around by first going vegetarian and then plant based, almost 25 years ago.

Knowledge IS power. And therefore people ought to understand that "What the Health" is complete quackery with nothing based in science. All of these so-called "experts" have an agenda.

I'm happy you took the time & watched the film.
Maybe a seed has been planted.
True, knowledge is power, but applying it is lifechanging.
Dr. Garth Davis, one of numerous doctors in the film,
recently wrote an op-ed addressing your concerns.
Interesting how 1hr & 37 min have rattled few people
but the important, positive message has been heard by millions
around the world. That's when things start to change.
Thank you, Dr. Garth!

What is this nefarious agenda of the plant eaters?

Girl....you should read his Facebook page.
He lets it all out! Love his passion.
Hope you're doing well.

I will go on over to his FB page then! I had to LOL last week when I watched a you tube with Dr. Davis responding to a paleo guy - at one point in the video, Dr. Davis shook his head, smiling, and said, "I can't believe I'm responding to a guy named ZDoggMD" haha
Just had some beautiful purple potatoes I picked up at Whole Foods today. They were perfection! Better than the ones I got at my regular grocery.
I also was looking for the elusive Persimmon (after reading a breakfast smoothie recipe from Banana Blondie. I asked the produce guy and he told me they'd probably get some in a few weeks from now. I don't believe I've ever TASTED a persimmon!
And my rotator cuff is doing a lot better, thanks to my dligence in doing my RC exercises. I'll be back to kettlebell snatches before you can say PERSIMMON!
Hope all is well with you.
