Re: What Helps Most for IBS?

Stress can be a major factor in IBS D and IBS C. (I've struggled with both since I was 17). I try to do some yoga every day and deep breathing exercises when I find I'm stressed and start shallow breathing.

As far as diet, I've had the best success with eliminating grains, dairy, and processed foods. I also only eat grass fed and free range meats and eggs and as much organic produce as I can find. I eat a mostly Paleo diet and feel my best eating this way, without a doubt.

I also SWEAR by a probiotic that was recommended to me by my integrative doctor and nutritionist - Klaire Labs Therbiotic. I've been taking it for a little over a year now and I won't be without it.

I have occasional problems with IBS and Citrucel Fiber therapy works wonders.

Re: What Helps Most for IBS?

See your dr first...don't self treat. You could have a gluten intolerance too.

Our doc recommends Align probiotic.

When I had a flare up over, two years or so ago, Citrucel made me worse.

IBS treatment varies a lot, depending on the type and on the individual and their triggers.

Re: What Helps Most for IBS?

I've had it since mid-1979. The big D several times daily. What misery! About a month ago, I switched to a gluten free diet, and the symptoms are pretty much gone! I also have some yogurt daily (not Greek). I take no medicine for it. It's wonderful, so I don't miss gluten products.
