Unfortunately, yes. American doctors don't usually test for them unless there is a reason. I have been tested for them after living abroad and getting sick, but it's something that had to be ordered specially for those parasites.

I worked in a hospital pathology lab and believe me, tapeworms ~~were~~ are more common than people think. @Mz iMac
