during a routine visit with my primary care physician today, we discussed my weight gain and my difficulty losing weight. I'm about 25 lbs overweight. He suggested I start on the weight loss injections after I'm fully recovered from neck surgery. He says these meds are very effective in helping you lose weight along with changes in diet and exercise. You only take them until goal weight is achieved. Then you continue your lifestyle changes on your own. My doctor is an internist. He is generally conservative in his approach to things. I have trusted him for six years. Very excited to get started.

@smoochy. Did he mention a specific drug? I've read over and over that if you don't continue them for a lifetime, you'll regain the weight. Better check and be sure your insurance will approve it.
Please do your homework and read pros and cons before you do this.

Ozempic ?? Wegovy ?? Munjero ??
I would much rather do it on my own which I have done than take these kinds of drugs, just my 2 cents. It isnt easy but it can be done, 25 pounds is not that far a reach to do this on your own, no drugs, and you can get started now, no need to wait.

First I'd try getting a GOOD diet app, deciding with your doctor on a plan (dash diet, Mediterranean, or other way of eating) and try that writing down everything you eat, every bite, and being sure you are getting all the nutrients you need.
Give this a month or so and see how you feel first and how you adjust to it. EDIT TO ADD: Ask your doctor to schedule visits with a dietician--it helps because that person will help tailor this to your needs! It takes some adjusting, but just simply being sure your body gets the nutrition it needs, not just the calories, can make a huge difference in how you feel.

Have you heard a negative side effect to these kinds of drugs in what they are calling Ozempic Face ? I have a friend who is a doctor and she mentioned it to me and this past weekend Manuela from Isomers was discussing the same side effect on SHQ. Apparently, while the drugs are helping to eliminate fat and calories in your body, they are doing the same thing in your facial muscles, causing the face and jaw to sag and look skeletal.

I would suggest reading the many studies on these drugs. A friend is using Ozempic for weight loss only. She has to pay put of picket and it's expensive. There can be severe complications and the average person gains all the weght back once they stop using
the drug even while trying to maintain healthier eating habits. Good luck.

Check with your insurance as to how much it would cost, @smoochy. 💲 💲💲

My daughter was on Ozempic for about six months. The medicine made her feel full, so didn't eat as much as usual. If she over ate, she got nauseous. It was slightly constipating for her to be on it.
She couldn't afford it anymore, for her it was about 350 a month. The sad reality was once she stopped Ozempic, all the weight came back on.

That must be why Sharon Osbourne looks as she does currently.
She said she takes one of the drugs and she looks skeletal now.
I have a male friend who has gone overboard in losing weight, not by drugs but eliminating a lot of foods. One flu comes his way and look out, don't think he'd do very well.

Could it be that some docs are receiving kick backs to prescribe these types of drugs so much now ? I always felt same way about statins.
