Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Yesterday I made my 10,000 steps.  Part of that was putting everything back in its place.

My patio is back in order as is my front porch.  I also ran to the grocery store to grab some small items and people had cleared out some of the aisles like it was armageddon.

I walked around the house and nothing to clean up really.  A lot of neighbors lost trees and one still has a large tree leaning against their house.  There was a tree that blocked us from leaving the development but they cut it enough so we could ride in and out by mid afternoon.  Still lots of chainsaws going yesterday and today too.   There are trees and branches down everywhere.

My employer opened back up so I am working in the office instead of from home like I was the past two days.   My gym is also back open so tomorrow it's back to reality.

Rumor is we may actually see the sun today and no more rain.  I'm not sure I will recognize her.  It's been so long.

Happy Wednesday all!

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

So I drive to the library to drop off my books before they send the library police after me and I see a big huge Bodyplex built right across the street!  I almost crashed the car which I have already done in the library parking lot so I chose to not do that again.

I googled them and they are opening early October.  $10 enrollment fee presale and an individual is $34/month which is $5 off the normal $39 rate.  They have very similar classes to what I do at the other.

The gym membership I have now is free through work but good to know when I leave Boss Satan's den.   Not sure I'll be able to afford $40 a month but maybe they will pull a lot of the current people over to that one since I know I've been over the parking situation forever hence my 5am classes.  They are also about 5 times the size of the gym I am at now.

Someone finally got smart and brought a real gym to the area.  Don't see a pool though.  They should have included that.  I may have signed up now if they included that amenity.

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Hey all, today is a hot one, it's over 80 out.  We haven't had 80 almost the entire summer and I'm not kidding.

I did pilates and walked the dog, not much else.  I did grocery shopping this morning early and traffic was terrible.  Building a new hospital and tons of detours, flags, barrels to manuever around and people tailgating you when seriously there is no place to go, its 1 lane!!

Tonight we are taking dad on a picnic by the lake, he's looking forward to it and it should be really nice by the water.

Laura I haven't heard of a Bodyplex gym before.  That is pretty cool.  My husband said at the hospital's PT gym anybody can go there too.  I didn't realize that, thought it was for employees only but that being said he said something like 65$ a month and I can't afford that either.  Only one of us can go to the Y and that person is him because he won't do it at home and I will.  I'd love to use weight machines though.  My TG I swear contributes to my rotator cuff stuff and my knots in my upper back which today are bad, I think it's what's causing my headache today.  I put a small crossfit ball under my should blade and laid on it and holy cow did that hurt but if I move the slightest it rolls off the knot.

My husband wishes our Y had a track and 2 levels, it isn't real big, it does have a pool but not very big either and it has a gymnasium for basketball and stuff but a nice track would have been nice to walk in the winter time.

Better get my gear ready to the lake, enjoy the evening!

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Good afternoon everyone!  It's hot in Denver today too! I thought we might get some rain, but it cleared out. At least we aren't breathing in the haze from all the fires burning to the west of us.

@bopper, my small group currently has 3 people in it.  When I started over 3 years ago, there were 5 (including me), I am the only original member left.  It was 2 for a long time and we have become friends and will actually do a workout when our trainer is on vacation.  We added another one last month and she is actually pretty funny, but she does everything without complaining, much like I used to when I first started. LOL!

I did restorative yoga today and there was one pose that was basically a deep squat (like a campfire squat) only on your toes.  The ankle that I rolled (and the one that consistently causes me problems) was like oh H8LLL NO!!!!  She didn't hold it for long, but I did it for about 2 seconds before I knew it wasn't happening.

Well, keep your fingers crossed and send good thoughts--I'm teaching my first LaBlast class tonight--without my safety net (my Zumba instructor who also does LaBlast).  I've never taught these songs in front of a class, so this should be interesting!

Have a good evening.

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Hi, everyone. It's hot here again, too. Ugh.

Laura, good news that your home suffered no big damage and things are nearly back to normal. Yay that you have a new gym near you.

DrKelli, I hope you're happy with how your class goes tonight. You'll do a great job. Let us know how it goes.

Hi, Bopper. It's so great that DH is doing well. I know you're enjoying having a more normal routine again.

Today I picked up my new glasses, 2nd pair. What an ordeal this has been, but after a month issues are solved. These are comfy, fit well, and I can see well. They're  RED! 😁 (I wanted a bright color), and they seem to make my blue eyes stand out. I like that. They're a little bigger top to bottom than I wanted, but that seems to be the style now. I can live with it.

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

@DrKelli, I know you nailed that LeBlast class!  Glad you got through the storm with minimal problems.  @bopper, I can't remember what you said but that means that you had no problems, which is great, lol.

@nomless, I thought your glasses problem was solved.  You're not a constant whiner like me, I guess, lol.  Red glasses?  I'm sure they are pretty on you.

Well, yesterday, I had a binge!  Why, I do not know.  Nothing happened to work my nerves.....nothing.   My husband had mentioned that he had a taste for catfish so after I left the car dealership where I got my tires checked, I stop at this restaurant that has good fish.  The problem was that I ordered some for me, too.  And some fried green tomatoes.  Later in the evening, I ate a single serving bag of Angie's sweet and salty popcorn which is delicious and low in points.  Then I told myself that since I had went over my points anyway, I might as well get another bag of pop corn, right.  I will never order another case of it, lol.  Since I only ate half of the dinner, I'll eat the other half today but no popcorn.  Oh also, before I went out, I had eaten one slice of bread with peanut butter thinking I was going to be at the dealership a long time.

On Thursdays, I have no exercise classes scheduled but I'd better get in there for a long walk to burn some calories, lol.

Everyone enjoy your day.

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

@DrKelli  Hope your class went well!  I know you did fine.

@Mmsfoxxie  I binged on Tuesday.  After the storm and working from home for two days, I took myself to the grocery store and bought some pizza pockets.  Had to be done and I enjoyed every bit of it.

So Mrs. Rudeness was in Power class today.  She obviously left Mr. Rude at home.  He disappeared last week after two songs and I've never seen him again.  She had on her brand new outfit and matching shoes and matching new bag.  Even her phone matched her outfit.  It was impressive.  She set up right in front of me a bit close but not too bad.

She finally joined the class after the warmup and halfway through realized she could move her step up a bit for lunges and not die.  BTW, this is probably a 40 something year old not a young girl.  She made it through the entire class.  I just kept thinking to myself, "I was never THAT new, was I?"

I did 40 minutes on the virtual bike and rode through the Italian Alps.  Then I did my Hour of Power.  I have been up since 2am and I think everyone else has been too or we are all just tired from the storm.  The gym was so quiet it was noticeable.  Not one person talking to anyone else.  Just weights clanging around.

Anyway, the sun said hello in the afternoon yesterday but we are dreary again today.  Hope you all are enjoying your last blasts of summer.  I am going to try and get through work and then love my bed again.

Happy Thursday!

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Good morning, all!

Well, I survived the class.  I had a couple of mistakes (a big one in the Jive--I got way off and had to catch up).  This was the first time I had taught LaBlast live (in front of people--my dogs don't count because they just sit there and watch).  The most nerve wracking thing is that people had to fill out comment cards and if I would have been much better, I wouldn't be so nervous.  I didn't get home until almost 8 and I was ready to drop by then since I was at work at 6:30 yesterday morning.

Two of the Ladies that are in my Zumba class were there last night (one of these ladies has always kind of rubbed me the wrong way, but last night--I changed my mind about her) and it was nice to have some faces that are familiar with me messing up at least once! LOL!  I liked POUND, but don't know if I would want an hour of it.  I liked the instructor.  The Cardio Dance lady went on for 40 minutes and we were supposed to have 15-20 minutes (I went 25, so I am no better) and I was getting irritated that she went on double what she was told.  It was her "own" format and she is a dancer, so she looked good doing it, I wasn't that fond of her music.  I don't know that I would take the class.

One of the girls in class (that I didn't know) told me she had fun and she told me that it was really great that I broke the steps down before we did the songs and that I counted out the rhythms because it really helped.

@Mmsfoxxie, that binge doesn't sound too bad.  Earlier this summer, I went off the rails with donuts.  I'm not going to tell you how many I ate in a weekend--okay, it was 6.  It happens to all of us.  If you don't do it once in awhile, you may be tempted to do it ALL the time!

@Laura14, yes, we were THAT new, but we didn't act like tools.  I'm sure of it.

@bopper@nomless and @MickD--good morning--hope you are all well!

So today, is Zumba.  I am super tired, but I am going to go.  I will probably leave at about 2 today since I was at work for 10 plus hours yesterday.

Hope you all have a good day!

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

@DrKelli  I do pound but only the 30 minute class.  You are SO right that it totally depends on the music.  I feel like we've done the same thing for over a year and my musical tastes are very different from the instructor.  It is a good workout though.  I've done the hour class but it's hard to get to since they do it at 5:30 on Friday.  I almost have to drive straight from work and change at the gym.

And the biggest mistake I've ever encountered is doing half a weight routine for several minutes until the teacher stopped the song and said it was the wrong one and we had to start all over.  You couldn't figure that out in the first lyric?

She had my extremely unhappy face for the rest of the class and I doubt I was the only one.  @DrKelli if you haven't done that yet, you're golden!

Re: Welcome to the September Exercise Thread

Yay, DrKelli, LeBlast class under your belt. You did great, I'm sure.

Foxxie, I got 2 pairs of glasses and had issues with both. But finally, after messing with this for 2 and a half months, both fit well and I can see with them. One pair is metal frameless, the other red plastic. The reason for 2 pair is that I wanted spare glasses and wanted to compare metal vs plastic. Plastic is definitely more comfortable.

Now have to mess with antivirus software.I've been using Kaspersky which is now being banned for gov't use, so I suppose I shouldn't use it either. Will have to research what to move to.....I'm thinking Avast maybe. Ugh. I hate computer maintenance.
