Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

50 min cardio done.  Foot is better today.

New exercise guidelines were released last week.  Turns out 30 min a day, which has been the recommended amount for a long time, doesn't increase heart health much.  The new guideline is 2 hours a day.  Yikes.  Bopper and Patty do that much, but a lot of us don't.    2 hours a day isn't realistic for hose cwith jobs and kids.  Guess we just have to do the best we can....anything is better than nothing, I suppose.  It's sure discouraging, though, that what feels like hard work to me won't yield many benefits.  Oh, well.

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Nomless,I so agree.  I have the time to do 2 hours but realistically,I won't.  But I will continue to do what I can. Disheartening,I agree.

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Hi Everyone!

nomless- I was laughing at your sheet project! Those simple chores that lead to another chore, another chore......I have had that happen. Once you start you might as well keep going! But you end up with a major accomplishment. Good going! I have thought about a trainer, too but, as you said, way too much! I bet you have such a nicely decorated home. You always seem to get those little details that add so much. I can't believe you are I the 90's!

Bopper- the weather is supposed to hit 70 tomorrow before the cool down. A lot of trees have nice color and a few are dull. But they all still look nice. Just too bad that they will soon be gone.

I bet your ride was nice.  You and your son will survive! I felt so bad for your Lions last week. Hopefully today is a good day!

Skylark- good walking!! I thought about it today but read my paper, watched NASCAR and now  Patriots. I will be kicking myself tomorrow.

i hope you all enjoy Columbus Day! I am working for a friend so that she could extend her vacation - hopefully it won't be awful.

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Hi all, I typed a big thing and it disappeared.   So this will be short.  Did the Xbike for 15 miles and the the TG for 30 minutes lower body.

Weather is still warm but changing soon, so I'll take it.   Took my 88 year old dad on a color ride yesterday and ate dinner at a rustic lodge and he enjoyed it so much and I did as well.

Tony hi and waving.  Who won the race, I missed it.  Now watching basebal playoffs.

Nomless, and skylark a big wave!

[ Edited ]

My turkey apple meatloaf was terrific.   The recipe is here

I used poultry seasoning in place of marjoram and sage.  After 45 minutes of baking, I put apple BBQ sauce abd then baked 15 more minutes.   Checked temp with a meat thermometer to be sure it was done..

I did something right in my workout today....my arms are sore!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Hi everyone; I'm still alive and kicking!  Last week was crazy at work and by the time I got home each night, made dinner, cleaned up, and walked or went to zumba, I just didn't have the time or energy to hit the forum.  This week should be much calmer and I have Wednesday off.

I finally found some drumsticks for my cardio drumming so I can put the silicone spoons back in the kitchen!!

Nomless - 2 hours  of exercise a day??  Holy ******!  The only way I'll ever have time for that is when I retire.

Bopper - Do you live in the UP?  Will the Lions ever win a game?  For my cardio drumming supplies I bought a blue bucket and a silver ball.  Maybe I  should exchange for different colors!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Hi all, today I mixed it up with 3 miles on the treadmill, running/walking, used my Air Climber and exercise ball....then walked Logan on the trail after lunch and it was misting out.  It's only in the upper 40's right now.  What a change from Sunday!  Yes Whatsmyname, I am in the UP.

Nomless I copied down that meatloaf recipe, it looks really good.  Was your ground turkey expensive?  I noticed last week it was 8$ a pound in the store, couldn't believe it.  Is that because of the "bird flu"?   Hubby isn't crazy about meatloaf but I'm trying it.  So tired of the same thing week after week.

The Lions are not good!  Every year it's the same thing...hubby is not happy either!

I'm into these baseball playoffs now so I might as well root for the Cubbies as it's the closest to me!   Almost time for the game matter of fact!

Enjoy the rest of the day!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Bopper, here I got Butterball ground turkey for $5.99 for 19 oz.  The apples kept it moist, and they added flavor, along with the onion and poultry salt.  Definitely add some kind of sauce on top when it's nearly done.  The apple BBQ sauce I found was very good. If you try it, I hope you and DH like it.

WMN, it's good to see you.  Welcome back.

I did 90 min of cardio today in 3 30-min sessions.  I had the time so decided to do a bit more than usual.

Now I'm going to roast some cauliflower.  Not my favorite, but it's OK roasted.

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Hi and Happy Hump Day,,,,almost the weekend again!   We've been into these baseball playoffs at night...Go Cubbies!

Anyway today I had errands to do but I have taken Logan on a trail walk and it's absolutely beautiful outside, the leaves on the trail and the color on the trees is breathtaking.....sun shining down between the trees on a golden path creating a beautiful carpet on which we walk!

Going to finish up decorating the inside today for Fall.  Still didn't get any pumpkins for the front yet.   I did get some Christmas lights though on sale for the deck and I put them up.  Why wait until it's freezing out,,,get it done now.

Have a beautiful day everyone!  Waving to those we're missing.
