Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Check In

Patty, my previous eye doctor was at one of those chains where they value quantity over quality. It wasn't until I went to my new eye doctor at Costco that I found out my contact lenses were switched. Talk about headaches.

Today was my second week with the 50 pound barbell. I thought I had adapted pretty nicely to the increase. My lower body exercises weren't as strenuous.

When I broke the barbell down at the end, I realized I left a 5 pound plate off.{#emotions_dlg.angry}

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Check In

Yowza, what a crazy day. We were getting freezing rain this morning and streets were icy, so I worked from home for a bit. It's hard to do because my computer connection is slow and the cats climb all over me when I'm trying to work, LOL. They think computer time is play time. About noon, the temp got high enough to melt the ice, so I came into the office. All day, I've been wrestling with apps that are acting wonky and not doing what they should do. So frustrating. I feel frazzled. And I couldn't sleep last night, so I'm sort of zombied, too. (zombied??? I think I just made up a word, lol.)

Hi, Bopper, good for doing TM and TG. I don't know what I'm going to do tonight. I'm sorry you're getting another storm. I was watching the weather map this morning and saw that you were all clouded in at the very least. I was hoping is wasn't more snow for you.

Patty, I hope your little house guest is doing well and that Lucy isn't making her too crazy. How long will you have her?

Hi to all. Stay warm, spring is right around the corner...right?

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Check In

Hey everyone. I had another crazy day. When I checked in, they told me the Ortho doc was running an hour behind...grrrr! Well, I live 30 minutes away so I decided to stay....turns out he was 2 hours behind! My head was ready to pop off its shoulders. I told the nurse I was ready to have a melt-down, please go check how much longer he's going to be!

Anyway, it's one of 3 things but he isn't sure which without doing an MRI. So, it was my choice and I opted for the Physical Therapy based upon what his gut was telling him...he said I could do a lot of it on my own at the gym after they show me the exercises.

nomless, our house-guest bonded with dh so she's been a little out of sorts since he flew out...lol! I'm not kidding, she follows him all over the place. He's an animal magnet...even more than me I guess(as much as I hate to admit that{#emotions_dlg.glare}). But overall, she's doing really well, much better than I expected.

Hi HonnyBrown, suprising how much of a difference 5lbs can make!

bopper...I just don't know if it's the glasses....I've had them for almost 2 years! I don't know. I realize if the script is wrong, that will cause headaches...but why after all this time? I think it's more hormones but the glasses probably aren't helping anything...or the lack of sleep...and my neck...and the weather going up and down...lol!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Check In

45 min cardio done on treadmill, bike and elliptical. Patty, how cool she bonded with DH, BT now issues him ...what a sweetie. Little Lucy must be a tad jealous. Good wishes to you, I hope the pt helps. I would have gone with the least invasive option, too. Might as well give it a try.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Check In

Well, I did it. Hauled out my barre and dusted it off. Spent part of yesterday night with Callan Pinckney doing a couple rounds of her callenetics. While you guys were working out I was doing plie`s. Shouldn't say that, it took an hour and I started to feel the deep muscle work she has you do. I get a kick out of her students working out with her - no one cracks a smile unless she orders them to. I figured I'd start at the base and make sure everything is in working order before I do anything complicated. Had to supplement with upper body work after as she doesn't involve a whole lot of that.

Had a soothing bath after and I was still cranky for classes tonight. Just starting to wind down now. Once I got home I got to do a quick shovel of the drive in 11 degree weather. I really shouldn't complain. Our winter here has settled out, I'm just ready for spring and tired of the minus degree days. In a couple more days it is supposed to be in the thirties here - heat wave! I can hardly wait.

Hope everyone is doing well. Daylight saving time is coming this weekend which I look at as a rite of spring coming. Looking forward to it.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Check In

Morning all, we're cold again too canine, it was 3 here this morning and many below 0 days and I am with you I am ready for Spring!

Today I did the treadmill on an incline and alternated the speeds, it was good.

Pppmint sorry you had that terrible experience of having to wait to see the dr. To me that is not acceptable, and they need to call and tell you how far behind they are. I hope the PT will help your knee. Glad DH made it home and the "girls" are happy campers!

Nomless we didn't get the ice, but we did get wind and snow but today it's just back to the frigid temps with sun. Saturday they said 30, so crossing my fingers for that.

Canine good job pulling out the barre, we're cheering you on...I am anxious for DST too, it does mean Spring! Seems here it isn't Spring Until June and then it's 'iffy' Haha.

Take good care everyone!

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Check In

Hey everyone! Canine...yay!! Bustin' a move with the Barre...welcome back!

nomless...Yep, I'll always try least invasive first...well, usually my only option..lol. Daisy was tickled to see me when I got home yesterday, so I guess she'll take me if that's the only alternative she has...lol! All of them went nuts last night when dh got home, Lucy tried to bully all the other animals away from him(canine, close your eyes, I know you cringe reading this. We're trying some methods our old vet recommended when Zoe was being Alpha), she got in trouble but she didn't care...her new thing is she head-butts them all, she knocked one of the cats off the couch...ay. He flew in late, then the parking pay-boxes broke down and he couldn't back up because other cars were behind him...so we got to sleep well after 1 again.

bopper...you guys had a long one last year if I remember correctly. I even remember we still had snow in April up in NOVA which is unusual. We're almost all melted here but supposed to get more tomorrow, I'll believe it when I see it. Kids are getting hit right now and the weather advisory doesn't even start until 3.

I busted a move on the bar too canine...just a different 'bar'...lol. I actually really liked this morning's work-out(except the push-ups and the Hollow Rocks), but I had a respectable time on the WOD considering my limitations. I didn't want to go too fast because 1. my knee{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}, and 2. I have plenty of time to improve my times so can't start out too crazy.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

There are some really competitive people in this particular class which helps my gf and I move faster. One girl is amAzing.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Check In

Hi, everyone. It's sunny and cold today. Nice day.

I'll probably do cardio again today, but I should do weights. I haven't been able to psych myself up for weight work lately. I need to fix that.

Patty, Daisy sounds like a sweetheart. Glad dh is home and the furkdis are happy.

Bopper, your temp might get above freezing this weekend. Woohoo!!

Hi, Canine. I was interested in reading that you're doing callenetics. I had a couple of her DVDs but didn't do very well with them because there were a lot of twisty movements that I can't do.

I've been reading the DDP Yoga thread. I recently saw the informercial. It looks interesting. I'm thinking it over....might add it to my collection.

Re: Welcome to the March Exercise Check In

I feel like I'm busting in here, but I need to ven!

I tried to like the routines, I really did. And although Tony Horton knows what he's doing and is bizarrely motivating, after 6 weeks of P90X3 and actually weight gain I ripped the schedule off the wall. I then proceeded to purchase Insanity Max 30 (waiting for that to arrive). While I wait for that I started the second month of Insanity this past Sunday. Strangely, it feels good to be kicking my butt again!

I think what frustrated me most about p90X3 is that the intense cardio is missing. Just when I would get the heart rate up and breathing heavy we all break and high five each other. Wait, no! I don't want to stop! I felt like I was cheating on my exercise with P90X3. If anyone has tried it and got great results maybe you can share with me what I'm missing.

I'll keep P90X3 for the husband who doesn't enjoy the extreme cardio workouts like I do and for when this 47 year old body just can't keep up with Shaun T anymore.

Timing couldn't be better. I'll finish the second month of Insanity and the end of the month and I'll start April off with the Insanity Max 30. Really looking forward to trying that out. Hope is doesn't disappoint like P90X3 did for me.
