Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Bopper, I hope there's a cancellation and you can get your dad in soon.

I think the cooker was on Q, not HSN.  IMO, it wasn't a good buy.  Better to get the Aroma cooker at Walmart for half the price.  It's the same size.

I hope you enjoy the spores.   They'll look nice with the lantern.

Cardio and weights done. I can lift heavier when I'm not sleep deprived.

I'm about to start on my hike back home tiptoeing through the sprinklers as I go.  I just don't understand.  Every sprinkler person knows you run water either at dusk or dawn so it doesn't evaporate of the blades of grass you are trying to keep alive.  Why the HOA runs them in the 95 degree heat is beyond me.  Good thing I'm not green and don't melt.

I will also have an awesome butt by the time this is over.  These hills are kicking my backside, especially going home.

I should be grateful I actually live to tell about it as I make it up and back every day.  Tuesday, I passed the maintenance guy replacing road signs for the umpteenth time down the hill that people just can't understand they need to slow down to make.  Rain storm yesterday (and yes they still ran the sprinklers on the walk home Smiley Sad) The road signs were down again along with pieces of the guy's car strewn about.  I know a great repair place!

This may be cruel but I am getting a little bit of a kick every time someone else is an idiot too.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their day!  Three more hikes and it's weekend time!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Happy Friday everyone, woke up to thunder and lightening but has passed.  May pop up another one later on today though.

Too muggy to want to be outside and since I have equipment inside I did the BG for 35 minutes and rode the bike and will hop on and off all afternoon to keep my activity level up.

Nomless thank you regarding my dad, I hope so too.  No the cooker was on HSN but I know the Q just had a little one too.  One of these years I'll get one!  Too much now with the wedding and stuff.

Good job on going heavier, yes sleep does help!

Laura I can see you dodging the sprinklers and yes why would you water in the hotest time of the day!   Good job at doing all the hills, you will have a good butt!

My As Is spheres look great with my lanterns, I'm glad I purchased them.

Have a good day everyone!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Bopper,  I'm glad you like your spheres.  I didn'the see the cooker on HSN, but I did see Q's Cooks Essentials TSV cooker a couple of days ago.  Will check out HSN to see how they differ, if at all.  Q's cost more than it should, IMO.  And it was new, so no reviews.  All good reasons not to buy.  You didn'the miss anything.

Laura you did great hoofing it this week.  Enjoy your weekend.

I did cardio today, no weights.

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Hey everyone...Happy Saturday!

Lucy is a little better today so maybe the Zofran and Pepcid are helping and it was her tummy from eating someone.  Who knows.  She was acting better on Thursday, lethargic again yeasterday, seems better again today....so, we aren't sure what to do.  She isn't 100% today, but better.  If she doesn't seem to improve much, vet said she'll send her to Internal Medicine at the big Animal Hospital.

Hit it hard today...hill-run and I didn't stop once even on the "big hill", power-walked, biked, and upper-body weights.  Now we're debating going to the pool or not to swim some laps but dh had that darn pain in his chest again today while running...but it's gone now.  He saw the Cardiologist in Va Beach and he said his heart was stronger than most 20-year olds so who knows...he said someting is going on though.  Can't get into Lyme Specialist until August 12th but doc is going to refer him to Rheumatology as well...I'm sure that won't be quick either.

bopper...praying for your dad...hope they can get a positive diagnosis.  I know how hard that is....we can't get one for any of us!  It's frustrating.

nomless...glad you're back to the weights.  I just talked my gf into starting...I'm going to send her my Body-bar and she's going to pick up some light hand-weights.  She has lost almost 40 lbs!!  I'm so proud of her!

Laura...hope you survived your hikes...and sprinklers..lol!  Where are you going on vacay?  We're going too but I thought I'd cancel because of Lucy...wrong answer!  Has to be within 10 days...if worse comes to worse, they said we can reschedule the dates.  Kids are taking time off and coming down in August since ds said he won't have any free-time once Sep hits between school and work.

Have a great day!!  WAving to everyone!!  Thanks for prayers! <3

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

Happy Saturday everyone rode the Xbike today, 40 miles....yup not a typo...haha not that it helps me any!  LOL   I mean it helps with cardio and stuff but not really weight!  I'm trying to lift heavier though and I think I'll get a medicne ball, but not sure how heavy to go.  Just for throwing down to the floor and back.  8 pounds maybe?

Laura sprinklers running today  LOL..Its nice here 72 and breezey.  Heading to have dinner with my sister at a campground not too far away and then we should mow.  I told hubby to mow but he is sitting here watching baseball but so am I LOL

Nomless have you gotten any new dvd's?  I still get the collage news letter.  I wish I had a gym to go to like you do but I don't so it's the free weights for me and as Iluvlucy will say you get a great workout with free weights and she really brings it!  Seems when I go heavy I get a tendenitis in the front of my forearms.   Then behind my knees kind of hurts, I guess we all have our hurts so we just do what we can..

Iluvlucy sure hope Lucy improves and you don't end up bringing her to the Large animal clinic.  We'd do anything for our babies though, you did great running those hills, Buns of steel hey?  Smiley Wink    I wonder what's the matter with DH, it's so long getting in anywhere, same here.  Thank you regarding my dad, I hope we can get it figured out, it's not easy and he is not the most cooperative person either.  I told him "its give and take" and you have to be somewhat flexible.

Okie dokie, going to cut up a watermellon.  Enjoy your day!

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

I did mostly lifting today with a bit of cardio.  My new resolution is to do weights 2-3 days a week.  I can already tell a difference in the short time I've been doing the weights...I move better.  Gotta keep it up.

Lucy, I'm glad to hear Lucy is better.  I'm sorry to hear that DH has some undiagnosed stuff going on. Lots of good wishes to all in your family.

Bopper, you're doing good, as usual.  Your consistent with your workouts, that counts for a lot.  I haven't looked at DVDs lately.  I know Coffey was coming our with a couple of new ones I was interested in, but I never followed up.

I got a new cookbook...BHG 30 Minute Dinners.  Now that I have time to cook most evenings, I want to start doing so.  The book is filled with quick easy recipes using real food, not processed.  Just what I was looking for.

Now I need a notebook so I can keep track of recipes I've made and liked.  A friend mentioned a recipe I gave her long ago, and I don't remember it even though I loved it when I made it.  She's going to send it back to me, lol.

Yesterday I also learned of a meal planning service called Emeals. You pick an eating style you like (heart healthy, low carb, classic, vegetarian, etc - there are about 15 choices), and then every week they send you recipes for the week including an entre and a side. It includes a shopping list, too.  I looked at several samples, and the recipes look good.  Both easy and healthy.  Well, most of them....the kid friendly and budget plans have a lot of carbs.  I usually have difficulty figuring out what I want to cook, so Emeals might be a good solution for me.  You have to pay for it, but it's not too expensive at $60 for a year.  I'll give the new cookbook a try, but I may end up giving Emeals a try, too.

Re: Welcome to the July Exercise Thread

@Iluvlucy  Glad to hear Lucy is better.  Heart  I'm back to Iowa in a few days.  I love it there.  Beautiful state.

@bopper  Of course no sprinklers!  Now that I am in workout clothes and could use a spritz walking to the store, nothing!!  I will get the SOB if it's the last thing I do before getting my car back.

@nomless  I love your cooking stuff.  I've been thinking about getting more serious myself about cooking.  I started the new year with a goal to try new things and I kind of got side tracked.  Once I get my car back and things get back to normal, I may join you.

HIke to CVS today but I did buy ice cream so I cancelled my good but I haven't had ice cream in months so I don't care.  Have a great weekend everyone!

@Laura14, it's difficult to cook when you're working.  An upside of bring unemployed is that now I do have time to cook.  Tonight I made a chicken quesadilla with pico de gallo that I made.  It was yummy...fresh, real food, except for the pre-packaged tortilla.

Enjoy you ice cream. Smiley Very Happy
