Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

I have one @bopper. I got it as an as is I think for about $28 so not much off. Highly recommended if you need to stretch your back. It does work and is easy to use.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Good morning all!  I think I'm back to my normal self except for a little coughing trying to hang on.  I haven't had a bad cold like this one for almost two years.  When that happens, the cold last about two weeks but residual coughing will hang on for a couple more weeks.  I'm been told it's because my bronchial tubes have been irritated.

I went to my fitness center yesterday and did my walk.  Today will be senior cardio and my weight class afterwards.  Should be a good workout day.

Sad news....I'm up four pounds!  (Tears, tears, lol).  Can't blame anyone but myself.  I've been overeating since Thanksgiving so it was expected.  The problem is that I didn't stop on January 1st.  Well today is the beginning of cutting back on bad stuff.  Walk the walk of that talk that I do.  The lack of exercise was unexpected, though, due to the cold.  Well, the old girl is back on track, thank you, Lord!

I felt kind of good though this past Saturday.  I went to the funeral of my former MIL (sad about that part, another week and she would have made 95) and saw people that I haven't seen in years, including my ex.  I got so many compliments on still looking good.  They hadn't seen me during my weight gain periods, lol.  Several said, "how are you staying so slim?  You must take good care of yourself".  My SILs are all heavy or thick and I was always the one trying to stay small.  And I'm five ft tall and all of them are at least five ft six.  Anyway, nobody wants to look bad when they run into an ex, right.  He was happy that I came to acknowledge his mother's passing.  First decent conversation we've had in years.

Enjoy this beautiful day, Ladies.

@Laura14, I think I'm going to get that Fitbit HR2 TSV.  I put one for me and one for my husband in the cart yesterday to hold while I did some research/reviews.

@Mmsfoxxie  Every review I saw said it's the best in class for that price point.  You can also change out the bands to nicer ones.  This one comes with two but I kind of want a leather one for the office which Amazon sells for about $15.

I was between this one and Alta which I honestly like better in looks but if they are giving me the best of the best below Alta's price point in the color I wanted that was originally going to cost me $180 with no second band, done!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Happy Monday everyone, it's finally 20 here so since we are having a "heat wave" I walked outside with 2 neighborhood ladies.  We did 4 miles, then I came in and did some weights and had a good stretch.  I have had a back cramp in my right quad so also did the foam roller on that.   It really isn't bad out at all, and I'm taking Logan here in a bit.  Just had lunch and watching Y&R my lunchtime show Smiley Wink

Laura thank you, I remember now you had that.  Maybe it will come back as is too.  I'll keep a look out.  I have a Teeter inversion table but you know how that goes, its in the basement and this would be in my living room, just easier I guess.   I have a Fitbit One I keep in my pocket, the clip broke and I never got a new one.   The new one that's coming as the TSV looks good though, but not in my budget now.

Mmsfoxxie glad you are feeling better and it's true about the irritation.  I have asthma when I get a cold and the cough even though it may not be from the cold, I have the bronchial irritation too and the more irritated the more you cough, It's just one of those lingering things.  You did great with your class and cardio though and glad to see you had compliments at the funeral, it is nice to meet up with old friends just not with a funeral but that sure seems to be how it goes.

Nomless how was your weekend?

Iluvlucy I hope your back on the horse and having a good day ,   How is DS doing and DH.  I know DS had his infusion and praying he is doing okay?

Waving to all!

I wish there was some way to give you my clip @bopper.  I don't have the ONE anymore so it's all yours.  Smiley Happy

And slap Hillary for me while you watch Y&R and Lily.  Can't stand those two and their bickering.  And you can backhand Victoria too while you're at it.  Just about everyone on that show needs a good wake up moment right now.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi everyone!  Went to lunch with my gf today and did some shopping, felt good to be out in public again.  We're going walking at 3:30 because she didn't feel like going this morning...I'm sure she'll be late though. Smiley Tongue

We had a nice hike again yesterday...did 5 along the river and took a new trail...which turned into the creek so we headed west on a non-trail and it was rough.  It was colder down by the river...0* and windchill worse with those winds right off the water.  Temps have never really mattered to us, I've always gone out in the "tundra", as my gf's like to tease me about...even ran in blizzards before...just dress appropriately and it's a non-issue.  I was sweating yesterday once we got in the woods and the sun was shining...was 9* but felt warmer than the day before.  Better than 100* and we have plenty of that here so I don't complain about the cold.  I do complain about the heat...I own that! Smiley Tongue

I ran this morning since my gf bailed on me.  Turned out to be just what I needed as I pushed myself and had a good strength work-out by Kira Stokes....she's a tough cookie.  Then did the rower for my cool-down.

My gf drove today, she has a Subaru Outback...they're a nice little car!  Waving...hope everyone is healthy and getting some sunshine.

Laura are you on FB?   Maybe we could connect there.     Y&R is over the top and then Dylon leaving I and I heard he left the show.   I agree the show needs a shake up  LOL

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

It's a lot of fun seeing so much chatter here. I love it.

Lucy, it sounds like you're back in gear. I'm so glad you feel better. Congrats on the towing machine.

Foxxie, congrats on looking good to old friends and acquaintances. It feels good to hear that. Glad you're on the mend, too.

Hi, Laura. Based on your rec long ago, I got a low back thingie when it was on clearance. I haven't needed to use it, but occasionally I do have low back issues, so I'll have it if needed.

Happy day at work today - I got through my shift without struggling. Hurray! I had more than twice as many books to fetch for holds and lots of incoming books, so I was moving the whole time, and I did OK. I hope it means my conditioning is getting better and my muscles stronger. I'm tired now, of course, but it was nice to have a glimmer of hope that this job may not always be a struggle. 😃

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Good morning, Group!  Yes, @nomless, it is good to be so much chatter on here.  The best part is that everyone seems to be doing well.  @nomless, it seems like you've been working at the library forever but I remember that you just got it around the time I started posting here.  Great that you are liking it.

I got through my day very well yesterday.  Looks like the old girl is back into the swing of things.  Today is body sculpting, flexibility and hopefully, I'll do the Zumba class.  I wish the Zumba class was first on the list instead of third, though.  Often, I find my 'I'm tired' thought coming into my head and don't do it.

Enjoy!
