Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Happy Monday!! I survived! I did tweak my back a little on the dead-lifts but I stayed at 75-lbs even though the coach told me to rack more on, I said "No, I'm not going higher, feel like I'd hurt myself"...which is an accomplishment for me right there.

I love the way they do it here...start off with a warm-up which includes a variety of things...rowing, running, burpees, stretching, etc...then we do strength-training with heavier weights...then the WOD. Then you can run the 3.1 mile course they have mapped out so we'll do that once in a while. I have to take Lucy in the mornings before I go(and she was speedy Gonzales this morning) so want to have room to grow. Wink I did really well on the push-jerks and back-squats...dead-lifts and push-ups were more challenging...well, it was all challenging but you kwim.

Anyway, my gf loved it after she caught her breath. She runs but hasn't been doing any weights or anything...she did Insanity and P90X before but said this is different and her kids have been on her to start lifting. I knew she'd like it, it really is more for certain personalities(I'm ADD so it's right up my alley...lol). And we all have to find what works for us!{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} Not for everyone, I get it...believe me, I've heard it all.{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

bopper and nomless...bundle up! My gf is in HI and flying home to -26* not including wind-chill...she'll be real happy.{#emotions_dlg.glare} Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi FUTURE AND NOMLESS, TODAY IS MONDAY, and I cooked a light chicken meal with mushrooms,wine and raspberries along with mashed cauliflower. I might say it was delicious and it was just for myself. But after shopping yesterday I can hardly stand or walk. I'm in some Serios physical pain. And I have no dish washer. And to think my mother expected me to be one of her caretakers all the while she's known but been in denial that for nine years I've been disabled. So I finally told her after doing it that I no longer can do it, but I also know the reprocessions will be great. From the family. I sure hope these yoga excercises will be my salvation because I need to strengthen my leg muscles. As we age those are the downfall of our independence is balance. Gosh, I promise to let this site know. Also I see the senior centre is offering yoga but the weather here has gotten real bad in Ohio like 6 degrees tonite. So I'm glad to own my own dvd. Well girls, I'll keep in touch. :0)

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi, all. Happy Tuesday. I hope you're staying warm! Brrrr....it's cold outside!

Last night I did a Katami. It was so nice to see a friendly face. He's so motivating.

Hi, Maggie. Your dinner sounds yummy. I hope you like your yoga DVD and that it helps you. Be patient. Take it slow and easy to start.

Patty, what a great workout you had yesterday. How fun to have your gf doing it with you.

Hi, Bopper, I hope your doing OK. I bet it's too cold to snowshoe, right?

Hi, Future, have a good week.

I need to get back to work. Just got back from lunch break. I put gas in the car even though it's cold today because tomorrow will be even colder. Oh, my!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hey guys! Went for a run this morning before my doc appt. Wasn't too sore when I got up but after driving to my appt, whoa, I almost fell out of the car! Then I was lost and running late so had to run from building to building because they kept telling me the wrong one to go to...I looked like a wild woman by the time I showed up!{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

HW...it's a good family game, but like I said, it's not complicated so I'm sure like Monopoly or many other games, young kids could play too. There's a you-tube video of adults playing and the site itself shows all ages.

My gf didn't feel well yesterday but she said she always does that when she just starts back to a hard work-out, it shocks her body. She said she slept like a rock and feels fine today other than being sore. She's pumped though..I may have created a monster...lol!

I just got my Hoka's and am going to take Lucy out for a trial-spin. I'm not wearing them to CF tomorrow though...but I'm sure I will eventually.

Waving to everyone!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

HI all, I did KCM dvd Lift2 Be Fit and then did the trail with Logan. It was up qo 10 when I went so I dressed properly and Logan was fine. He ran the whole way and didn't once lift his paws. The wind seemed worse than yesterday though.

No school again here because it's so cold.

Ppppmint I bet your GF will have a shock when she steps off the plane....it's cold a lot of places right now. Glad your gf is liking the class and you may be right, she may be turning into a "monster" haha

Nomless I looked at the collage site yesterday. I hadn't visited in a long time. Then I think I have so many dvd's I don't even use. I probably shouldn't have used my new disc gear to load ones I don't use..that was dumb.

Maggie I hope you feel better and the pain subsides. Yoga is a great workout too and I certainly need my stretching. I should do more of it.

FUTURE hi and waving to you....

Okie dokie how are you doing in the New Year?

Tony???????? Well you know ( insert wink)

Ok kids going to prep my dinner, have a good night!

Bopper, I hope you're lovin' your new Disc Gear! You mentioned it the other day, and I was going to comment, but then got sidetracked by something else. I've redone my DiscGear a couple of times. At least it's easy to re-organize.

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Hi, all!! Speaking of shocking your body........ I did 30 mins of cardio and my weight class last night, and today I feel like I'm going to die. Which is good, because I deserved it. I am now officially back in the routine and on the bandwagon. It is ridiculous. I made tilapia and quinoa for dinner tonight and it was amazing. Now I'm making brownies for a bible study tmrw night and trying to stay out of them. Lol! Today I did the treadmill for 25 minutes and stretched and foam rolled for 15. I almost cried and was breaking a sweat during the foam rolling. My quads are just killing me. Again, that's what I get. Gotta roll with it! (Oh, no pun intended. Smiley Wink ) Okay, I hope you all have a nice evening. I need to get some things ready for tomorrow (oh, and I have a hair appt -- ughhhhhhh), and I'm going to bed early. It's gonna be COLD here tmrw (high 20*, with crazy winds - yikes!). Have a nice one!

Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

Nomless and FUTURE, THANK YOU for welcoming me into the fold. I Already feel I'm at home thanks to you. It's so gratifying to know that this is not a hated place when I've read enough of those. Everyone here is kind, thank goodness. You don't have to worry about me I am too. It just dawned on me when I read how polite everyone is and how everyone looks out for each other as it should be. Amen to that. Anyway, it is bitter freezing icy cold. So cold my car doors were fozen shut. It took some pulling to get my door to open but my trunk is solid shut. Smiley Sad Yikes Schools here are definitely closed. My dauchoun hates the cold. Her name is Chloe but I call her stinkki lololololol Smiley Happy shes so cute. Or maybe it's cos I'm her mommy, I don't know lol. PpprMiintPatty, wow, you sure do work out hard. And I have never lifted any weights like that. You make me look like a wimp lol yikes,girl your something else. My my my!!" Keep up the good work. You'll never be weak or lose strength at an older age. Don't stop whatever you do. That goes for any and all of you lifting more than say 50 lb weights for excercises WOW AND GOOD WORK. Bopper, your doing pretty good too 3 miles on that treadmill is no easy task. Good for you! Re: Welcome to the January Exercise Thread

maggie...I love dachshunds! We had them growing up...great personalities.

FUTURE...I'm foam-rolling this week too and hating every second of it. I'm so stinkin' sore...and only my lower body which is odd because my legs are stronger than my arms. But since I pulled that rib muscle, I haven't been able to lift heavy at all. I mean I can feel my upper if I pushed on a muscle, but that's almost gone this morning...not my legs.{#emotions_dlg.glare}

I'm skerred about going this morning! I'm serious, I'm doing laundry right now and going up and down the stairs is tough, I lifted my knees while turning over in bed last night and it woke me up...and sitting down on something requires assistance.{#emotions_dlg.unsure} So this should be interesting.

They said to get Epsom Salts and soak in them with hot water so I'm going to pick up the Epsom Sport salts today.

Oh...I got my Hoka's. I 'like' them, but would never pay the full price...don't see what the big deal is. I took Lucy out for a few miles in them throughout the afternoon and evening...they're comfortable enough, but I'm not quite getting what the big difference is. Time will tell.
