Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

@JudyL, how sweet of you to ask.  I hesitated to bore you all with extra details.

She has a first name that I've never heard before.  The baby's first name is Juanet and she's named after her maternal grandmother who is from Guam.  So is my DIL.  Her middle name is Mae, named after me.  I was truly pleased that my DIL thought of me as well as her deceased mother.  She ordered blankets and bibs with Juanet on them months ago.  She not superstitious like me, lol.  I didn't do much before my kids births.  They call her Maemae and have done so since she was in the womb, lol.  Oh, she weighed 6 lbs, 2oz.  Nineteen inches long.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Hey everyone,  Judy Congratulations on your new granddaughter, we are awaiting our new grandson soon too.   She is most likely going to be early by the size of the baby so just praying everything is developing fast enough.

Update on hubby, he is doing amazing!  One week ago today he was in open heart surgery having 4 bypasses and today we took a ride to town, he even did some bookwork at his job.  He did NOT over do it.   I'm the warden and I will get after him if he does.  Only an hour and we went home again.  Just a change of scenery was nice for him.   I bought Logan some treats and got a few groceries while he was working at the desk so everything was good.   God has certainly answered our prayers and he has a second chance on life!

Continuing to pray also for Lucy and everything she is enduring right now as well.  Dr. Kelli, nomless, Judy, MickD, Foxxie, everyone praying for my hubby whether you visit this thread on a regular basis or just pop in occasionally, we so appreciate your prayers.

Love the Bop!

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Bopper--so glad your hubby is doing well. Don't forget to take care of yourself!

Lucy--we haven't heard from you--hope you are okay!

To all my other sisters in sweat--good day today, but hard workout.  It was kind of fun though--during my 'rest' periods, I was teaching my trainer one of the dances I plan to do on September 13.  I needed a victim, I mean volunteer to practice my instructions on because the LaBlast concept, you practice the steps before you put the dance together.  Zumba is kind of follow the leader.  Yesterday in Zumba, I was practicing the same dance and my instructor told me that people couldn't catch on to one of the steps so she just made it the same step throughout.  Of course that made me bear down and become determined to teach it so that people could catch on and I think I've got it.  The trainer picked it up after a couple of practice runs.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Good morning everyone.  So glad we all made it through.

@DrKelli, you have more energy than the law allows, lol.  I never did.  I think that @nomless I are the least athletic of the group but we try.  Correct me if I'm wrong, nomless.

I'm doing my Zumba class this morning and afterwards a WW 5K walk.  Last month, I changed my mind about the walk at the last minute for whatever reason so I have to follow through today.  I know it's only about 3.6 or 3.7 miles but that's a lot for my knees.  If I wake up almost too stiff to walk tomorrow, I'll know not to do it again.  And the other concern is that the walk might affect (effect?) my weigh in tomorrow.  I still have the theory in my head that too much exercising slows down weight loss.  Yeah, yeah, I heard that stuff about building muscle, lol.  It's all about the numbers, folks.  It's a perfect day for a walk, though.  Low humidity and mid 70s.

Have a great day.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Good morning everyone.  I still marvel at why I wake up so early...as if I have to still go to work, lol.  Thank God that I don't.

Thank you, @MickD.  Yes, she is adorable.  And growing so fast!  A week old and her newborn wrinkles are gone.  Now she's really cute.

I did my 5K yesterday and my feet are a little tender but my knees seem to have survived it.  I'll admit that it was much nicer walking outside with the ladies.  We walked moderately fast and had some conversations going.  Bikers were a little of a problem, though.  You have to stay on alert because not everyone uses the biker safety rules.  It was a perfect day for walking outside.  Low 70s and slightly cloudy with a nice breeze.

@bopper and @Iluvlucy, I hope all is well with you guys.

I think I'll skip my walk today.  Another restaurant meal today.  I get a birthday entree discount of $15 at this place as well as a complimentary dessert of chocolate covered strawberries and truffles decorated with whip cream and chocolate syrup.  You have to go within 30 days of your birthday.  I never pass this up.  So I weigh in this morning and dinner out this afternoon all week to to recover.

Have a great day everyone!

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

@Mmsfoxxie, yay for doing the 5K! Great job. It sounds like you had a perfect day for it. Enjoy your restaurant treat today - you earned it!

DrKelli, how are your Zumba and LeBlast routines coming along?

Laura, how's your wrist? Are you still doing PT? I hope it feels ok.

Hi, Mick and Judy. I hope you had a great weekend.

Lucy, I hope things are ok for you and family. Thinking of you and we don't prayers.

Bopper, how is DH doing? I hope his recovery is proceeding as expected and that you've been able to get some rest. I bet Logan is glad that things are a little more normal at home. Saying prayers for you, too.

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

Good morning, everyone.  Weatherwise, it's going to be a beautiful day.

Yesterday, I had a 1.2 lb weight drop at WW.  Yea!  I went out for my last fabulous birthday dinner for this year.  Don't regret a bite.  I got on the scale this morning and no gain.  I only ate half of my entree, though.  Other half is for today and I'll be very clean in my eating the rest of the week.

Ok....today will be senior cardio and my strength and motion classes.  Maybe about a 20 minute or so walk.

Summer is half way gone, people!!

Re: Welcome to the August Exercise Thread

@nomless  Wrist is getting much better, thank you.  I actually was cleared to use a bar again in weight class last week.  Can't go super heavy and I still can't do the bicep curls with it but I almost cried putting on my little five pound weights on each side.  Not the 30 plus I am used to but it's a start!

I hiked all weekend and I came into work early today.  I brought some gym clothes so I will probably be leaving early if I can and going directly to the gym to beat the crowd.  I might take the step class I haven't taken in forever or just go bike and watch some tv.   I have guests all week at home so my home based workouts are off the table until Friday.  Smiley Sad
