Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

Hi All!  I have a BodyGym question.  Looking at the diagram chart, I can't tell by the picture how the tricep move is done.  It looks like you take the bar off and stand on rubber part?  Anyway, if someone who has the BodyGym can let me know, I'd appreciate it.  I do like using that for upper body work.

Was up watching TV too late last night so didn't get up and work out this morning.  Will do so when I get home.  Hope everyone is having a good Monday!

@JudyL  The bar stays connected.

You can stand on the rubber and lift the bar up over your head and do the move.  I'll be honest.  I'm not that strong and I've only seen men do that on tv.  The easier way to do it is to sit on the pad that covers the rubber and then lift it up over your head and bend back.

If that is still too tough, I have also laid down and had the rubber pad under my upper back.  You'll have to probably roll the bar in a bit and then do the move from your forehead to just above your chest.  If you've ever done bar work, I think they call that a triceps extension or "skull crusher" move.  Works the same muscle group as the other two. It's just done in front of the body instead of behind which works better for my bad shoulder sometimes.

Cardio done.

It feels very hot here today, but it's sunny and not windy.  Pretty nice.

No one has contacted me about the colonoscopy results.  I should call them, but I'm putting it off because I'm not willing to face the possibility of going through the procedure again soon if more work is required.  I'll deal with it soon, just not yet.

Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

Hi Everyone!  Got home from work tonight and did a 30 minute PiYo workout and then did about 20-25 minutes of upper body work on the BodyGym.  Felt good to work out again after taking a couple days off.  Now watching one of my favorite mystery shows on PBS.  Hope everyone has a good evening!

Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

Good morning everyone!  My you ladies have been busy.  {{{Laura}}} I'm so sorry you are living with a broken heart.  Grief takes time, time and time.  Wishing you well.

I had one of the better weekends in ages! Saturday I did cardio at the gym and then shopped, achieved over 10,000 steps for the first time since forever it seems! Sunday I did a mile trail walk then went back to the gym for some weight machines and did a Pilates mat routine. Yesterday was a lunch walk and a Margaret Richard workout. She may have a perm and be wearing spandex in this one but she killed my glutes and she looks like she could kick your butt in a dark alley, smiling the whole time.

Waves all around! Heart

Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

Oh ouch, oh ouch, that is me this morning!  HAHA  Between last night's workout and getting up this morning to do a 45 minute cardio DVD, I am hurtin'!  But hurtin' in a good way.  Just hope I can pick up a piece of paper or a file if I need to!

Did a 45 minute TurboJam cardio workout this morning.  Decided to do TurboJam cardio workouts on the days that I'm supposed to do PiYo's version of cardio because their routines are just too hard for me and I wasn't getting much of a workout.  Hopefully as time goes on and I get stronger and more used the PiYo routines, I can integrate their cardio back in.

Its a beautiful but cool day here in the Bay Area!  Hope everyone has a good Tuesday!

Re: Welcome to the April Exercise Thread

Hi everyone, it's been a stressful day since yesterday afternoon when we brought my 88 year old father to the hospital.  We thought he had a mini stroke and after numerous tests they are leaning on a TGA, or some time of seizure.  I was there for most of the afternoon and some of the evening last night and again this morning, so no workout.  I'm the type of person that when I have stuff like that going on I can't focus.  I know some others need to get in a workout but I'm not one of those..anyways that's where I am at.  Don't know if they are releasing him today or not.  He's fine one minute and sharper than a tack and the next something is going on and it isn't dementia.

Any way I'm just trying to re-focus and de-compress and  do what I have to do.  They said if dad went home tonight someone has to stay at his house with him.  We're all afraid to be there alone with him incase he has an episode of some sort but it's what we do as family and do the best we can.

I really don't have much more to day, we all handle things differently and process things differently.

I just took Logan for a walk on the trail, it finally quit raining, lots of water puddles though.

Have a good day everyone!

Bopper - so sorry to hear about your dad.  I will say a prayer for you, your dad, and your family.  Take care of yourself as best you can.
