I'm 78 and have not slept well for years. Recently, I read (don't remember where) that red light therapy placed directly over closed eyes for 10 minutes, within an hour of waking can markedly improve sleep.
Well - it works for me. My sleep patterns are so much better. I rarely wake up in the middle of the night anymore and I get about 1 1/2 hours each of deep and REM sleep.
The theory is that red light simulates spending a few minutes outside in morning light - which is almost impossible where I live because of continual bad weather.
Anyway - hope this helps someone...

Thid is a subjective question and interesting. I am a person with anxiety most of my life, and xanax has been my savior.
I'm widowed young at 45, 23 years marriage, and I met a lovely man who I was with for 5 years. He owned a home health pharmaceutical company and could not get to sleep even with 2mg of xanax at bedtime.
I know others and they need alot more as well. Getting up a few times at night is normal for urination as we age.. Totally normal, unless it goes into excess or too little. That might need medical attention.
Recently I could not go in the day, but did at night. I started hydrating with water and now I am fine with my numbers as well.
Stress is a number one cause of so many illnesses. Please listen to your body.

my sleep pattern has been erratic since i retired. I'm usually up until 11p, then fall asleep fast. It's staying asleep that's my problem.
I started taking 2 gummies with cbd+melatonin and 2 Advil PM. It seems to work ok. i wake up but can go back to sleep pretty fast. Up about 8a.
I think waking up gets to be a habit and not a necessity. i'm trying to break that "habit".

@10sluvr Be mindful that Advil PM has Benadryl. It has been discussed about the issues of using benadryl. And the long term use of Advil (ibuprofen) is well documented.
