I know there have been quite a few threads about weight loss recently (mainly about Ozempic) and I’m curious what you all practice to lose or maintain your weight. I’ve read some use low-carb or keto. What do you find effective?

Re: Weight loss / maintenance

My niece is short and round like her dad, carrieds her weight in her belly.

Recently she has lost about 25 lbs. she cut out sugar and processed foods.   She has several health issues and her doctor is thrilled with the results.  While not fun she said she feels great.

Smaller portions.

Zero junk food, fried food, red meat, sodas.

Move. Move Move.

As low carb as I can manage.  I utilize an eating window of 5 to 6 hours.

30 minutes climbing on my 40-degree incline treadmill everyday does it for me. That and eating right. I have a 26-inch waist and it hasn't changed since I was in college. I'm 68 now.

Re: Weight loss / maintenance

I eat between 1200 and 1300 calories every day except for one. I have a cheat day one day a week where I pretty much eat whatever I want. I power walk 3 days a week and do core strengthening exercises daily. I am 5'6, and this routine keeps me at my goal weight of 130--Only 5 pounds more than I weighed in high school.

Re: Weight loss / maintenance

I am in my mid 60s and keeping myself from being overweight has been something I've been dealing with since I was preteen. So many different diets and strategies.   What works best for me the past 15 years or so is to forget about regimens.  So here's my method.  I try to make healthy choices as often as I can, watch portion size, and don't beat myself up when I occasionally indulge. This way, I will settle at the weight I am naturally supposed to be.  As the expression goes,  l let the chips (or pounds) fall as they may. I don't do well psychologically with strict food rules.

@Natureluvr

It seems I cannot lose without drinking a protein shake each day and walking each day. That's my formula...seems I need a lot of protein.

Re: Weight loss / maintenance

Since last January, I am down 62 pounds with 14 more to go.  What has worked this past year was cutting calories down to approximately 1,300/day and I have avoided all gluten to help reduce inflammation.  I have not been able to exercise and walking has been minimal due to hip pain but will focus starting some type of weight-bearing exercies.  I have found the Lose It ap to be helpful in tracking calories.
